It's just a counterpoint to all the "Passenger cancels airline (future travel) due to hostile FA/GA/skycap" posts here.

So the crew was late? Indeed it is aggravating when that happens but the question is: why was the crew late? Were they just having coffee and the time slipped away? Highly doubtful.

Well, I'm sure that the passengers settled down after hearing that news!

The crew was late because of their delayed inbound which came in from an International destination. Kind of low class for these folks to boo the crew as they walk up to the gate IMO.

Exactly! Although I do wonder if the pax knew this? Doesn't excuse their behavior but if they were only informed that "we are awaiting a late crew" then it at least helps to explain their behavior.

I agree that it's low class; I view this as an AA operations-caused problem, not the flight crew's problem. But I wonder how good of a job operations and the GAs did of keeping the passengers informed of what was going on. I find these problems often are exacerbated by a poor flow of information.

I was on a DL JFK-BOS flight last week that was delayed for two hours because they couldn't find the FA. Had we gotten out on time, we would have arrived on time, but the delay caused us to hit weather and ATC delays and ultimately made us almost four hours late. I certainly got the impression, based on the annoucnements made by both the GA and the cockpit crew, that the delay was due simply to the FA showing up to work late. I was ready to kill her, but held off because I really wanted to get to Boston!

Homicide deferral is usually the best course.

True, the passengers shouldn't have boo'd the FAs, but the GAs and airline can do a lot to prevent this reaction by communicating better with the passengers. I may not be happy about a delay but can handle it a lot better if I know you are trying to resolve it or are doing your best to avoid it.

Flying Comair on this route certainly did remind me how much fun it was to fly Eagle BOS-NYC back in the not-so-distant past when it was much more of a Mickey Mouse operation than it is today.

Sounds to me like the passengers collectively got what they deserved.

This is completely unfair to the likely majority of passengers who did not participate in the crew abuse.

Gotta love a man who favored civility over lesser concerns like civil and human rights.
