Do I really need so few miles for BRU-ZRH???

I am looking to redeem miles for a one-way cash&miles award for two persons on BRU-ZRH. Do I really only need 4,500 miles + £40 cash + taxes + fees for both persons together?

Very good, given that a paid flight would run at EUR600+ per person...

... and given that the 5,000 miles on my account are from some surveys I replied to. Can see the attraction of DC over M&M (where I usually credit all my miles).

Now will try the famous (infamous?) ICC for the first time...

Seems like I need it.

Call goes very well, flights reserved. But, can't calculate taxes. Gives me reservation number.

I hang up, check on checkmytrip. Wrong flight booked, 8 hours too early (and just one digit different, whilst I had mentioned the correct flight number and the correct departure time in the afternoon).

Call back, get a different person that can't hear me at all (no audio).

Call back again, get someone that tells me that I booked for the early flight but he will check with person that made original booking.

Now waiting for call back...

Is this normal?

Lesson 1 - Always use CMT whilst still on the phone.

(Even if the agent insists you won't be able to see the flight until the taxes have been paid)!

I assume it won't be a problem to change this since ticket wasn't issued yet?

How long shall I wait for them to call back? They said 10 minutes, it is now half an hour.

Call back. The ticketing team have been rather efficient at ticketing within hours recently. To save you further problems of getting them to waive any fees (as it is their error) if you can get it changed before ticketing, it will be a help.

Well they do not have my credit card details so I doubt they will ticket!

Next call - couldn't understand me, some audio but bad.

Next call - nice lady on the phone, makes the change in 5 seconds, appears on CMT 30 seconds later!

(Taxes still not loaded though, so I should call back within the next 2 hours).

And as a thank you for helping me out here and for those that don't know, here is a nice link for CMT, which you can bookmark, and refresh easily:

https://www.checkmytrip.com/CMTSERVLET?R=ABC123&L=GB&N=LASTNAME

(obviously replacing ABC123 with your Amadeus code and LASTNAME with your last name )

Taxes still not loaded - how difficult can it be for a one-leg journey?

I had the same problem on a simple MAN-ARN flight - I had to call back three times to pay the taxes.

I have a feeling if its the first time anyone has made a redemption on that particular route, then they have to calculate taxes manually, which takes a bit of time.

Juts my thoughts, may be wrong. Still it doesnt excuse them from taking several days to work it out.
