PHL: DYKWIA in the lounge
Decided to try out the Red Carpet Club at PHL for a change... a United GS DYKWIA is screaming at the lounge dragon over some issue with a a voucher, going off and off about how he controls a $1 million airline contract with his company and unless he heard from Jeff Smisek personally he'd be taking his business to Delta.
Think I need to come here more often, never get drama like this at the US Club.... not to mention its closer to the F gate bus.

I'm at the United Club at PHL frequently and the sad part of this is that basically all of the UA personnel that work there are very good. The facility is lacking but the people make up for it.

Facility is a old and tired, and could use new furniture and carpeting, but it was much quieter than the B/C lounge, had a better breakfast spread, and closer views of the tarmac. Also hear the bar service at United's lounges has a somewhat more extensive complementary selection than US.

Good riddance. Less people ahead of me in the UDU line. No reason to scream at the lounge agents.

I believe that the UC has Yuengling on tap as well as complimentary wine and well drinks. They charge for "premium" wine and spirits.

Ah Yes, the DYKWIA in it's natural habitat. A rare, yet somewhat common species usually sighted in airport clubs and surrounding gates.
I was really hoping for a story where the dreaded DYKWIA was slain by the "Lounge Dragon" and sent slinking off into the corner.
Perhaps someone will provide an amusing anecdote.

I was surprised how friendly everybody working there was, just felt much warmer than either of the US Clubs at PHL. The dragons in particular (and I use that term generically to refer to lounge receptionists, simply because they keep the Kettles away - no connotations that they're nasty...) were particularly pleasant - even with that out of line DYKWIA. They were even apologetic to a UA Gold traveling who came in not realizing he needed to be on an intl' itinerary to get access and offered him a discounted day pass.

Not too terribly different from the offerings in the US lounges, but quality across the board seemed to be a step up. In addition to the normal assortment of cereal, fruit, and mini-muffins there were also danishes, bagels and Greek yogurt - very nice touch, I must say ^.

- Three Types of Dry Cereal
- Regular Coffee and Latte Maker
- Yogurt
- Bagels with toaster and CC and Butter
- Canned sodas in a fridge
- Banana Nut Muffins
Also, the lounge just looked nicer. More wood. I guess I think of the US lounge as a place to sit, whereas the UA lounge seemed more like an actual lounge.
Is this just based on US's history as a non-global airline?
