New "Cozy Suite" Seats for International Y — No Longer Being Considered

No official link yet but apparently Delta will be installing the following new Y seats in international Y on the 777s and the 767ERs (whether that means both the 764ERs and the 763ERs or just the 763ERs I am not sure). They are from Thompson Solutions (same manufacturer of the new fully-lie-flat seats on the 764ERs) and called the "Cozy Suite" seats:

Lightbulb Delta Air Lines Showcases New International Economy Class (+ Pictures of New B764 J)

Aircraft interiors EXPO: Thompson cozies up to Delta

British design house Thompson Solutions has announced its new economy seat - the Cozy Suite. Delta Airlines will be launch customer for the offering and will roll out the product across its entire Boeing 767ER and 777 fleets starting in 2010. Delta has exclusive rights in North America.

The new Cozy Suite will give each passenger two armrests. Designed to help travellers to sleep, it has a contoured shoulder area and offers up to five inches extra knee space compared to standard seating designs of the same pitch. It also sports a unique hands free tip-up seat base, which makes it easier to get in and out of window seats.

Argh... if only the title said Economy Class+. It would be nice for DL to have an Economy+ product as some other airlines have.

I hope that the gold? yellow? doo doo brown? color will change before installation. I find it interesting that DL is installing different seats for their various planes. You would think consistency in product across classes would make sense. I wonder if this INCREASES maintenance and inventory costs.

Don't think it should be any different than today - basically the same set up except it's a little slanted all across

The various seat idea is absolutely stupid. The cost savings of having a single premium and coach product (at least across the international fleet) would almost certainly outweigh any revenue premium the older products will command.

But how much does it really add? I'm not saying that DL should aim to have subfleets of 5 planes here and 7 planes there, but once you are into the double-digits for each aircraft type, does it really make much difference? I suspect there is a minimum fleet size needed to cover fixed costs, but after that, the cost savings tend to disappear. It would be one thing if DL were WN, with a single aircraft type, but once you have more than one type does it really matter if all the seats are the same?

Would love to see true Y+, too...

Personally, I think the new BE seats look like a joke. They do not have an inviting 'over stuffed couch' look to me..they seem flat and hard, not something I want to cuddle up in for 12 hours.

The offset coach seats are the most bizzare looking I've ever seen. I can't see how that would work well in planes. What about the last row? Seems like you would waste realestate.

I seriously hope this is an April fools joke.....I mean come on!~
