HOTEL REVIEW : CONRAD CENTENNIAL SINGAPORE – CENTENNIAL SUITE
The Conrad Centennial Singapore, located just opposite Suntec City is a luxury hotel with a higher pricepoint amongst most 5-star hotels. With that being the case, it always pays to be on the lookout for active and upcoming Hilton HHonors or third party booking promotions to nett a better rate.
I booked the King Executive room for my birthday this year and received an upgrade to the Centennial Suite. My first impressions of the room was not as high as I wished. Perhaps the dated interiors and furniture played a part in reminding me why I ( and probably most people ) prefer newer or recently renovated rooms and hotels. There are only 2 rooms in this property that are renovated with a very modern touch. These 2 mock rooms are open to guests, and are used to fine tune the design of the renovation before the owners implement the renovation of the entire property. (Soon I hope!)
The living room area of the suite was spacious, but again the furnishings reminded me of Holiday Inn properties, not something you would like to be reminded of if you are staying at the Conrad Centennial Singapore. A friend received an upgrade to the Presidential Suite on the same day and invited me up to view it. The views from the Presidential Suite of the the Conrad Centennial Singapore were amazing, but the room itself was underwhelming to say the least.
Nevertheless, I get a bear greeting me with chocolates and fruits in the room which is always a good thing. Once more plushie to add to my collection that will be joining the SG50 Lion from Intercontinental Singapore, the Monkey from Conrad Bali, and in the near future the Elephant from Conrad Bangkok.
A modern touch (thank god) to the room, was this Nespresso machine.
The white marble bathroom at the Conrad Centennial Singapore was well maintained and didn’t look dated at all, but I noted that the bathtub was a little on the small side.
The amenities provided by the Conrad Centennial Singapore were comprehensive. It Included many necessities and nice touches, which includes Aroma Theraphy Associates products which I consider amongst the better brands when it comes to bathroom amenities.
The Executive Club Lounge offered a good variety of bites during afternoon tea, and high quality (and very tasty) spread during evening cocktails. The lounge itself is on the smaller side and most good seats are taken fast.
Apparently there is an “insiders club” at the Executive Club Lounge at the Conrad Centennial Singapore where you can be served Champagne instead of Sparkling White Wine, however you need to know the the Champagne by name. I had a really fun time stuffing my face with their tandoori chicken bites.
The Swimming Pool of the Conrad Centennial Singapore is small, and doesn’t make use of it’s space as well as the pool at the similarly dated Grand Hyatt Singapore.
The Fitness Center, located on the same level as the Swimming Pool.
Overall, the Conrad Centennial Singapore isn’t too shabby, it’s great if you have business to do around the area or if you are a Hilton HHonors Diamond. But there are better choices for staycations & vacations if you are open to explore beyond the Hilton portfolio of brands.
