Check In
I had booked a King Corner Room, and a few days before the stay received a message about an upgrade to King Plaza Executive Room (which are on 8th and 9th floors) plus an email from an Executive Lounge Agent with information about the hotel and its amenities as well as about Vienna itself. Nice gesture, even if I didn't really need the information.
Check-in was pretty easy. Friendly CS agent promised to merge my two consecutive reservations (two nights and one night) into one, no problem. However, at the end of my original two-night reservation my key did stop working.. OK, no biggie.
Room
I checked in via app the night before and was able to select a corner room on the ninth floor. The total floor space is pretty large, but the shape of the room is a bit unorthodox. The room has a desk for working (with two sockets), small table and a chair beside it (with some some nuts and local soda as a gift), plenty of closet space etc. One of the closets has an empty fridge and a water boiler, some instant coffee etc. This was a bit disappointing, Nespresso or something along those lines would have been appreciated.
Bed was very comfortable, just the right firmness for me. However, there was only one electric socket above the nightstands beside it - on the right side. Yes, the other side was missing electrcity totally. I was traveling alone, but if you have many devices to charge during the night...
Bathroom had a large shower with the standard Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries in large dispenser bottles. (Yes, I know, some people don't like them. I am indifferent.)
Service
Staff was generally friendly and proactive, no problems. One morning I had breakfast in the restaurant, and they had enough staff to clear the tables etc. even though the place was pretty busy. The same situation in the bar at night, BTW.
Dining
I had breakfast in the lounge on two mornings, and one morning in the restaurant. The selection is wider in the restaurant, but it is clearly busier. For me the offerings in the lounge were enough for breakfast. Cereals, scrambled eggs, wieners, some vegetables, cheese, good selection of breads etc. Good coffee.
I had time to spend 45 minutes in the lounge during one of the happy hours (17:00-19:00). Not a terribly wide selection of food, but I had a glass of sparkling wine plus a bottle of beer. There were the standard wines and some hard alcohol as well. Perfectly OK for an aperitif before heading out for a dinner. The other side of the lounge has a pretty nice view of the lobby. (Lounge is on the second floor.)
