Check In

Greeted warmly at the lobby check in counter. Was recognised as a Diamond member and thanked for coming back to stay again. Check in was smooth and efficient and since I booked a Centennial Suite, I was half expecting a high floor suite but when I did OLCI the day before, the only choice given to me was Room 601 which was already allocated (which was very strange to me). During check in, I requested for a higher floor suite and was told that they had limited number of suites and this Room 601 was a special room as it the only suite that was refurbished as a mock up for upcoming renovation (Sure! I'll take it!). They didn't really explain the executive lounge priviledges as I am quite familiar with this place.

Room

If you know the layout of the normal Centennial Suite, the living room looked something like this:

With the new layout, the furniture is more modern and sleek, larger TV mounted on the wall, the flow of the room seems smoother.

The bedroom is has the same layout but with the same colour tone as the living room, a cross between grey-dark green tone. The bathroom remained the same as other suites, with a large bath tub, a shower area and a separate toilet.

Service

Top notch service! As this stay was to celebrate a friend's birthday, there was a small birthday cake delivered about 10 minutes after we were in the suite. The staff who delivered the cake also commented that this suite was a mock up of what is to come and there are only two rooms with such refurbishment at the moment (Rooms 601 and 602).

During evening service at the Executive Lounge, even though it was quite crowded, the staff managed to be attentive without being too instrusive. We didn't spend too much time at the lounge this time but we did have a glass or two of bubbly before heading for dinner. Very impressed with the level of service.

Dining

Breakfast at Oscar's is always a treat. We went about 8:45 am and it was filling up. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long to get a table. The variety was there without compromising on quality. Coffee and orange juice were offered and topped up reguarly. I noticed there was a soft serve frozen yoghurt machine at the waffle station but didn't manage to try it this time.

Location

Now that Suntec City has been refurbished, there are plenty of shops and dining options available within walking distance. There's also Marina Square which has a plethora of good food options. There's also a new-ish cinema in Suntec City where we managed to catch an early movie before check out.

Overall

Generally impressed with the new suite, although when they will undergo major renovation for the entire hotel is still unknown. I am tempted to see what the normal refurbished room would look like. Their hard product is good, but with many fine hotels competiting nearby, Conrad really need to up the game with good service, and that they did it well. I hope to be back many times more in the near future.
