Transcript of May 10th FlyerTalk Live! Chat

With special guest Bruce Chemel from American AAdvantage

Jump to the post chat w/ Randy Petersen

With regrets, the live chat with our special guest, Bruce Chemel, did not go off as planned. Technical glitches with the chat server not experienced in test runs earlier in the week popped up. What you see are answers from Bruce via email and because of the problems, we weren't able to get in as many of the live questions from the audience as initially hoped. We will try and work with Bruce for another apearance on FlyerTalk Live! as we think he's a great guest to have on. However, we think you will find some nuggets of advice and information on what we were actually able to capture.

Randy Petersen
With great pleasure, I welcome the birthday boy. Happy 20th Anniversary to our special guest, Bruce Chemel, the President of the American AAdvantage Travel Awards program. As we say on the tarmac, "he is the man." Bruce has guided much of the success that AAdvantage has had in expanding the partnerships and was the point guy on the AOL deal. He's the guy that when asked about free seat availability explains that you as passengers have already paid for them and he gives away a lot. In fact, he gives away almost 9.2% of the American Airlines inventory to free seats.

Randy Petersen
While everything worked perfect on the trials yesterday, the chat application is giving us connection headaches tonight. So, here's what we'll do. We'll post the questions and then Bruce will see it and email the answer to us and we'll post up. Bruce Chemel, our guest tonight will still be answering things, but there will be a slight delay. I am very sorry...but let's get going.......

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: What will happen to my Aviators portfolio balance when the program ends?

Bruce Chemel
By November 30, 2001, when the Aviators program ends, Aviators members who are enrolled in the AAdvantage program will receive a mileage bonus in their AAdvantage account equal to the unused ending balance in their Aviators portfolio. This will be handled automatically; members don't need to request it.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: Can I have the balance transferred before November 30?

Bruce Chemel
Yes, if necessary. We recently worked out procedures for AAdvantage members to request early transfer of their Aviators miles, provided they have made an AAdvantage Award reservation but don't have enough AAdvantage miles in their account to claim the award(s). If they need their Aviators miles transferred before November 30 in order to claim AAdvantage awards, they should contact us (800-882-8880) or their Elite Service Desk and request the early transfer. An AAdvantage Award reservation is a prerequisite, as is an AAdvantage account with insufficient miles to get the reservation ticketed.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: What should I do to ensure the mileage transfer process goes smoothly?

Bruce Chemel
If you're not already an AAdvantage member, we suggest you enroll and be sure to use the same name and address that is on your Aviators account to ensure the 2 match up. If you already have an AAdvantage account, again, make sure the name and address in the 2 accounts match exactly. You can use our AAdvantage Web site at www.aa.com to instantly enroll or change your AAdvantage account address. Aviators account address changes may be requested via e-mail at the www.twa.com Web site.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: Will any of my Aviators miles be excluded from transfer? Will any be "worth" more than one AAdvantage mile?

Bruce Chemel
No. All unused miles in your Aviators portfolio will be transferred on a 1:1 basis. None will be excluded; none will be transferred at a higher rate.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: Will my privilege status in Aviators also be transferred when the program ends?

Bruce Chemel
Actually, sooner than that. We are establishing procedures to automatically award Aviators members enrolled in AAdvantage with the highest membership status held between the two programs. Again, to faciliate this match, please ensure that the name and address in the 2 accounts match exactly. Your AAdvantage elite status will be valid through the end of our membership year, which is February 28, 2002.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: How do I qualify as an AAdvantage Elite member beyond that date?

Bruce Chemel
Your qualifying Aviators miles will be combined with your qualifying AAdvantage miles after year-end 2001 to determine your AAdvantage elite level for the next membership year (3/1/02 through 2/28/03). AAdvantage elite status qualifying criteria is as follows: Level=Gold Miles/Points=25,000 Segments=30, Level=Platinum Miles/Points=50,000 Segments=60, Level=Executive Platinum Miles/Points=100,000 Segments=NA

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: Will you also match my Aviator's Lifetime elite membership status?

Bruce Chemel
No. AAdvantage elite membership levels are subject to the rules of the AAdvantage program. We require members to requalify annually. However, we do offer vested Gold status to members who have accumulated at least 1 million miles, and vested Platinum status to members who have accumulated 2 million or more. If your transferred Aviators mileage balance pushes your AAdvantage account into one of these thresholds, you would qualify for the vested status.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: What about the lifetime membership I purchased for the TWA Ambassador's Club?

Bruce Chemel
You will receive 2 years complimentary membership to the Admirals Club, and offered preferred pricing for renewals. AA has not offered a lifetime Admirals Club membership for a few years now.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: Will AAdvantage elite upgrade policies be made as generous as they presently are for TWA privilege members?

Bruce Chemel
Once the Aviators program ends, then current AAdvantage upgrade policies and procedures will apply (effective 12/1/01) for all elite member travel on AA or TWA.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: Why did you change VIP2 round-trip upgrade certificates?

Bruce Chemel
We made several positive changes to make them more convenient to use: giving twice as many one-way certificates for greater flexibility, and making them redeemable at the departure gate thereby eliminating the need for reticketing. The one area, of course, that has been poorly received by our members is the introduction of capacity controls in certain markets (Europe, Asia, South America). This change was the direct result of the increased demand from passengers purchasing full fares for our enhanced premium service. We had to address the complaint we were hearing from full-fare passengers who weren't able to obtain seat availability at the last minute. It's not our goal to fly empty premium cabin seats, but to retain the opportunity to sell them.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: Why have you downgraded the value of the Executive Platinum program by changing the VIP benefit?

Bruce Chemel
Complimentary VIP upgrades are just a part of the overall benefits and services offered to our Executive Platinum members. Frankly, we recently made the program even more valuable to members by offering unlimited complimentary upgrades from full-fare Economy Class tickets (U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Bermuda). And by offering complimentary AAdvantage award expedite service (representing a savings of up to $75 for Same Day Service claims).

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: Why can't one qualify for Executive Platinum membership based on segments, say 100?

Bruce Chemel
We believe that allowing members to qualify based solely on segments would stray too far from the original intent of this program, i.e., to recognize customers who generate the greatest amount of revenue. Further, our analysis shows that the vast majority of our customers who do fly more than 100 segments qualify for Executive Platinum status anyway, either because they earn 100,000 qualifying points or fly at least 100,000 miles. We are confident that basing qualification on points or miles, but not segments, correctly identifies the membership base that we designed the Executive Platinum program to serve.

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: As an elite member, are there any discount fares that I can't use in conjunction with electronic upgrades?

Bruce Chemel
No. Every revenue economy class fare can be upgraded by elite members using electronic upgrades, even some, such as Consolidator fares, that are not eligible for earning AAdvantage miles.

johnfpage
Hilton doubles TWA transfers, but not AA. Any chance of this changing to fall in line with UAL, CO, and DL?

Mikel at WebFlyer
This question was submitted earlier: What counts as a partner? What about different hotels or airlines under the same parent company "umbrella." What about different AOLAAdvantage partners? Different restaurants through AAdvantage Dining, etc?

Bruce Chemel
So many of the questions surrounding this promotion come from folks trying to make it harder than it is! Let me assure you, we're giving pretty broad definitions to the term "Partner." Let me give you some examples: Stay at a Sheraton, then stay at a Westin: Counts as 2 partners even though both are under the Starwood Corporate umbrella. But stay at a Sheraton in Dallas and another Sheraton in Miami, and it counts as 1 partner; both are Sheraton Hotels, just different locations. Same thing with Marriott. Stay at a Courtyard by Marriott, then stay at a Marriott Hotel: Counts as 2 partners because they are different brands, even though the same company. With airlines, it's the carrier code (which is right on your ticket) that differentiates. So, for example, American Airlines and American Eagle just count as 1 partner because both flight numbers use carrier code AA. But fly on Japan Airlines (carrier code JL), then fly on Japan Asia Airways (carrier code EG) and they count as 2 partners because they use separate codes. Earn miles by using 5 different AOLAADVANTAGE partners: Counts as 5 partners. BUT if you earn miles from AOL Opinion Place AND AOL Quick Check Out, it counts as one partner, namely AOL. All AADVANTAGE Dining transactions count as one partner; the separate restaurants that participate through AADVANTAGE Dining are not all separate partners. (We couldn't make it THAT easy!), Donate miles to the National Parks Foundation: Counts as 1 partner. Send Kellogg's 5 coupons or 50 coupons: Counts as 1 partner. Convert points from Hilton HHonors, then convert points from Starwood: Counts as 2 partners. There are no exclusions. If you can earn AAdvantage miles, then it counts!

Randy Petersen
Boy, what a problem with technology. DigiChat, out host server tells us things are fine on their end, but we seem to be experiencing something different here. We share your dissapointment because AAdvantage is a pretty important program and there's much to chat about.

Randy Petersen
I guess the thing to do now is extend our aplogies to AAdvantage and their members. It makes sense for me to pop up here and see if you've got any burning questions for the rest of the frequent flyer world......Have at me......

burkey
can we rescheudle another time to have Mr Chemel return when everything is working?

Randy Petersen
We will because I'm a big fan of his. I can only hope he doesn't hold us hostage on this tech matter....afterall, I think most of you from time to time have had problems logging into AA.com. I'll work on him....

Captain Mike
Randy....when's the grand opening of the House of Miles?

Randy Petersen
Not that question again. I think you singlely handed will be granted the first official pass. Well, we just planted our new starwberry patch yesterday and maybe when those are ripe? Maybe I should just find out who wants to come and burn off all my miles to get you here? Honeslty, I don't know as I'd like to get FT running real smooth first.

rcslo
milesrus asks if aa is going into latinpass anytime soon

Randy Petersen
that is a funny question. The reality is that the only reason that LatinPass came into being is to provide a way for those carriers in the region to compete against American. Based on that fact alone, probably never, or more exact, no sooner than when my million miles gets posted in LatinPass......

jAAck
randy - let me start by saying you've done an outstanding job securing all these folks to chat with us. i wonder, tho, if there's a way to establish more of an open dialog with your guests? it kind of reminds me of a political interview, where the response is given and the reporter moves on the next question - when in fact there's plenty of follow-up needed.

Randy Petersen
I think that takes the right guest and we'll ocassionally get that. I think Hoyt Harper from Starwood was like that. The problem is that many of the people online have a particular interest and it's likely not the be the same interest as you. With that in mind, I think it's probably better that we be shallow on many topics just for curiosity sake than deep with a few. Also, it takes time for these chats to jell. As you know, none of these guests appear anywhere else, so we're kind of the testing ground. I think a year from now I'll be able to do an "Up Close and Personal" style of interview and that's more like the MTV unplugged series. I will work on that, but from our end, we need better technologoy to make that happnen as fast as we'd like. Good question and one that needed to be asked.

CMW
The 20,000 miles for 20 partners promo looks a little easier to attain based on Bruce's comments don't you think. Especially if AOLAADVANTAGE different partners count separately.

Randy Petersen
It really does which is why there are nuggets of great information that no one else would get clarified without these types of chats. While tonight had a few problems that could not be anticipated (just yesterday we ran through a complete dry run with same computers for him and everything else with not a problem), I hope you look at the little gems like that one. I have no doubt that I am going to earn 20,000 miles or more from them because it's their birthday......this is an example of the value of FT that no other chat board can match.

markbach
Randy...I'll ask what is on a lot of people's minds. What's ahead for Flyertalk...word has gotten around that 2 prolific FTer have been asked to leave, and I've noticed a new forum for Moderators? You've been promising moderators for a while? Are they finally here? What will their role be? Just to keep thread on topic and keep the flames down? OR more like censors?

Randy Petersen
I can't comment of the issue of the prolific posters as that is an issue of privacy I respect for all members. For FT, it's not about moderators, it's about the role they play. I don't sense that any member wants to be God as a moderator or be forced into a site where censorship is the norm. I understand that at a new site there has already been examples of censorship. I can tell you that within 10 days you will receive a State of the Union address from me outlining several things. There will be the introduction of TalkAssist members whose role is to ambassador FT. They will identify posts that interupt the flow to topics on FT but any action would be the role of a moderation board. We will also be introducing a User Activity Council called a TalkBoard consisting of 10 members of the community whose role it is to guide the future of FT. FT will have places for FT 101 for newbies that need a little help and also home to several private forums for the more advanced members. There's much up ahead and what is important

ontheroad
Randy, I've seen many posts that "the newbies are ruining it for everone". I believe this is simply an evolution ... old timers have gotten about as much out of FT as they can, and new blood is looking to learn what many of us already know. This is good for FT. What are your thoughts?

Randy Petersen
I strongly beleive that FT is a place for members of all levels - whether a newbie or someone with 1,000 posts who has been with me for 2 years. Sometimes, people forget their roots and from what I know, FlyerTalk was a place for every newbie at one time, since there wasn't anything other than newsnet before. I embrace the new and the more experienced. I find it strange that anyone thinks they could outgrow FT. There's some 70 million people in America with a frequent flyer card - does anyone really beleive there are only 150 "experts?" I'm a teacher and I will feel the best joy when a newbie in turn helps other newbies as time goes on.

ElmhurstNick
Randy, if Bruce Chemel asked your advice on what to do to strenghten the AA EXP program to make up for the degredation in the VIP2s.. what would you suggest to him?

Randy Petersen
Nice question.......let me get my list together, here it comes -

Randy Petersen
Capacity free awards for Platinum and above. Not on exception basis, but as a permanent benefit of the program. The introduction of MyAAdvantage which allows Platinum and EXP members to name the benefits they want from a chinese menu. I only exclude Gold (and it is hard to do because I got demoted from Platinum to Gold this last year) because it's a throw away level with too many problems in delivering true benefits, but I'll take what I earn and know that to get what really matters means I have to fly my ass off, like you guys. I would also dump the award processing fees. Yes, it's a gold mine, but a fraudulent one based not on cost, but the lure of low hanging fruit - people who can probably afford it. How's that for a start and no chance to prepare? What do you think? Randy Petersen for President......of AAdvantage?

rcslo
If we dump american express membership miles how long before they convert to american miles. November?

Randy Petersen
It won't be before November, so plan accordingly.....

FewMiles
Randy and company, FYI apparently there have been many people who have not been able to get in to the LiveChat tonight or did get in but got booted.

Dan at WebFlyer
I apologize for that... we're having some problems with the chat login and I've been working with our vendor on it...

nologic
Great suggestions Randy!!! Now, can you assess the probability of any of the above suggestions?

Randy Petersen
The server for this application is not on our network, it's someone else's problem which unfortunately is now ours...

Randy Petersen
nologic - I'll answer your question in the same way that Bruce Chemel would if and when he sees my advice for him - "No Logic" Actually, while I don't have a license to practice fortune telling, I think you may find some capacity free award enhancements, that's the first thing I'll beat him up on. None of this will happen next week, but let's say for 2002? (that gives me enough time to hide from you if I'm wrong or work on Bruce to make happen) :-)

burkey
How great will the new Starwood Amex be? 2 miles per dollar or more?

Randy Petersen
I know but that's the part that Hoyt told me is still off-limits to mention because most of the other things I've passed on to the group have been from research, that one issue I was told, and I want to be fair. The answer will be apparent in three weeks time. Line forms to the left, and I'm in line if that tells you anything. Thanks burkey.

Randy Petersen
Well, it looks like we're out of time, or saved by the bell, or come back next week, or .....Anyway. I am so mad at DigiChat I can't even tell you. I hope your time wasn't a complete waste and yes, my customer service line will be open at 7 a.m. tomorrow to kiss your hand. Again, I am very sorry and hope you got something (that tip on the 20,000-mile AA promo perhaps). Anyway, same Bat Time, same Bat Station next month as we have the President of the Hilton HHonors program on and it looks like we may have the Star Alliance in for July...... Later or stay around and chat amongst yourselves..... Again thanks....

The following content is from the post chat with Randy answering questions in an open environment...

Randy Petersen
Open Sesame......

Randy Petersen
Yikes, we're free at last.......

markbach
Thank you Randy!

studley
Thanks!

JayBrian
Thanks Randy

MileKing
Thanks!

nologic
Thanks Randy!

studley
Randy, how are you feeling?

rcslo
your the man randy

studley
better, i hope?

Randy Petersen
The thanks goes to everyone online tonight for putting up with something far less than what we planned on....

Captain Mike
Your efforts are commendable, Randy, even if things didn't work out!

johnfpage
Thanks Randy and Bruce

burkey
Randy -- nothing less then we're used to with AA.com :)

studley
lol

nologic
BTW...can we get 100,000 miles next time?

studley
or OneStop

studley
lol

Randy Petersen
Burkey....thanks, that makes me feel a little better.....

hillrider
Thanks!!

Captain Mike
tell Bruce to send us all vouchers, Randy

FewMiles
I like that idea!

MileKing
And have them count as a partner for the promo!

FewMiles
Thanks Randy... looking forward to the rescheduled chat...

Randy Petersen
I will do that, though after he gets a chance to tell me where to go.....If I were him I'd not be happy...and we're not either.

nologic
Something would be nice...that's the tradition for airline mishaps!

ElmhurstNick
Randy - Scion sent a list of ?s into Mr. Chemel's office off of a FT thread. Could you be so kind as to verify that Mr. Chemel did in fact get it?

burkey
Randy -- it's the effort that will count in the long run, and we will all be looking forward to Bruce's return, hopefullly soon.

starrunner
Thanks Randy for doing your best with the Computers the toys we love to hate

hillrider
hey, if he's used to deal with AA.com, he can't be mad at you!!

nologic
technology...can't live with it/can't live without it.

Randy Petersen
ElmhusrtNick.......we'll go through all that in the AM and I'll make a note, please send email to remind me since I can't copy from this program....

hillrider
Randy, are you/have you asked him to get an official presence to the board after the RDURES fiasco?

bedelman
maybe it's time for a new chat program? check out webmaster.com -- has automatic logging, and a http tunneling mode to accomodate those nasty firewalls.

ElmhurstNick
Randy - I'll email the thread URL to you - ok?

Randy Petersen
This one has tunneling also.....

burkey
I know we're all taking sucker punches at AA.com, but Mr Chemel if you're still viewing this dialouge, in all seriousness it needs major work. Mr. Carty, Gunn, Samuels, and Ford are all clearly aware of the problems.

Randy Petersen
OK, thanks EN...

nologic
One of my questions was about his awareness/postion on RDURES and how favroably she reflected on AA.

nologic
Have you talked privately with him/them about her?

burkey
It would have been better for AA to offically have an employee on FT, in an offical capacity they can control the information and content posted on FT

Randy Petersen
I really don't know about the issue and what Bruces' point is on RDURES...the article in the Journal wasn't too complimentary about AA......

nologic
Like the Starwood lurker

studley
and to clarify things

Randy Petersen
Actually, it's their own fault since nothing would prevent a program from having their own live help or chat forum on their site.....though my guess is that it means they'd need some heavy editing.

Captain Mike
Maybe AA was upset because RDURES1 is "rank and file" labor, while Adam Burke from Hilton (and perhaps the Starwood lurker) are management personnel. Could this be it? I don't know...

freeupgrade
Randy - thank you again for all your efforts.

studley
Randy, how are you feeling? Much better, we all hope?

nologic
AA really stood out with the most employee posters: RDURES, AA Purser, numerous FA's, and some guy who knew all about equipment/seats. It really made the airline look good by showing that their employees care.

burkey
Oh my, live chat or help on AA.com?

freeupgrade
haha

FewMiles
Don't forget Island either.

bedelman
That guy who knew about the equipment -- which seats would hear buzz on which planes -- was especially impressive, I agree!

studley
yes....they also clarified many things before they were taken out of context

bedelman
(Buzz from the supersonic movement of parts of the engines?)

FewMiles
that's right. I think it was AA_IFP.

studley
omg, no

nologic
what's up with the seats/headrests?

studley
wow

Randy Petersen
I am feeling great and ready to kick some butt to get FT on track.....you'll see many changes in the weeks ahead. I've even changed the personnel handling the new board because it just wasn't happening fast enough for me....

freeupgrade
wish they would toss the 727 - it is a joke

markbach
you guys/gals....let Randy answer!

studley
Good to hear, Randy!

burkey
Yes, it surely is sorry to see all those aa employees, loyal aa employees, driven away.

freeupgrade
sorry

Randy Petersen
this is open session, let's all chat, I like to see what you are talking about, not me....please go right ahead....

freeupgrade
i thought that was awful re: AA employees who - for the most part - tried to give honest answers to issues.

studley
there is one prob with it...and i should know...

studley
because i am in kind of the same situation

hillrider
i just hope that more AA employees come back under guise...

hillrider
studley?

studley
mgt may not want the info out there, because some of it may be deemed "proprietary"

nologic
They're not all driven away...just RDURES is officially banned, and probably won't risk commenting secretly. Many still post unofficially...although it seems to have been drying up...so maybe they will all stop?

burkey
stud -- that's why, if AA would embrace them, make it part of their job duties, AA could monitor and make adjustments as necessary. I mean, AA is paying Knoll to monitor the board anyway

studley
no, hill, i don't work for AA

hillrider
too bad.

studley
but.....they don't see it

hillrider
who is Knoll?

studley
let me tell you

bedelman
It is fascinating that folks inevitably got caught here. I mean, in principle there's no reason why an AA employee would have to give out personally-identifiable information that would lead to a fate like RDURES's. Yet the temptation seems to be inescapable.. or maybe they just didn't know any better, the first time around.

studley
on the yahoo board, there is a GLI group

jAAck
it seems to me the right thing to do on mgmt's part would be to counsel the employees who are participating on what is ok to talk about and what's not, from a proprietary perspective. that would be much more productive for the company, the employee, and us customers as well...

nologic
You know...that's the difference between good and bad companies IMO...you either empower your people to act and push authority down...or run a non-customer oriented military operation.

studley
i lurked there....saw many things posted which were wrong

hillrider
GLI?

studley
started answering....and voila!

studley
Greyhound

freeupgrade
I agree with nologic

burkey
If you read AA's Leadership Plan, you'll question why there aren't many other changes... given their stated, in print, committment to many things

ElmhurstNick
Over on compuserve years ago, a UA gate agent from IAD nearly got fired for trying to provide good customer service by asking questions on the board. It took a couple of IAD-based 1Ks to talk with the IAD station manager to straighten things out... but the guy had to stop posting.

nologic
Management can do some counseling and that could/would help...but they have to take some risk...there will be some mistakes/abuses...but there should be many more benefits.

studley
after the WSJ article...i stopped posting

studley
like RDU, i enjoy my job.

freeupgrade
the problem with AA is that most employees have been given little or no authority to resolve issues

jAAck
it's interesting to me that the end result is that some of the employees now posting incognito don't have nearly the terrific attitude that rdures does. they silenced the wrong person!

nologic
it's not AA...it is most airlines. But if AA were to move more in that direction, it would win in the long run with superior customer service and loyalty.

freeupgrade
that has been my experience, however from several posts i have read things are quite a bit different at EXP level..))

nologic
Most big comapny managemt's are afriad to take risks.

studley
well...she saw the opportunity to make clear things others were posting wrong. that's what i did in the yahoo group.

MileKing
Starwood has got it right!

burkey
Part of it is corporate logic.. why hire an outside company to do the monitoring, why not do it inhouse, and do it better.

ElmhurstNick
Too bad we can't get Hoyt from Starwood to talk with Bruce Chemel about this general topic.

studley
don't forget Radisson!

freeupgrade
i agree - starwood is great - they deserved the Freddies..

FewMiles
I should have asked about my Unofficial Guide site... too bad I was having technical difficulties with it all day.

studley
fewmiles...love the seatmaps

burkey
most of the time, freeupgrade, somehow i end up finding the properties that say, huh, starwood platinum, we don't accept that credit card here.

FewMiles
credit to bedelman... he figured it out first.

studley
ty bedelman..that's right. :-)

nologic
It all comes from the top. the CEO set's the tone. And I suspect's AA's CEO is a pretty tight ship control freak. it will take a new CEO, with a different can do attitude, to change things. And it's unlikely that person will come from w/i the AA culture/organization.

ElmhurstNick
Fewmiles, it's a great site - scary that a volunteer site can be more comprehensive than the corporate site.

bedelman
Love that deep deep linking... would do it all day if only it paid the bills!

freeupgrade
i do agree nologic -

studley
the culture, however, can last long after the person who shaped it.

FewMiles
Thanks... maybe the difference is that I have the liberty to tell it like it is!

burkey
Don is a tad softer than Fang

jAAck
that's funny, nologic, because that's what the new guy was supposed to be!

ElmhurstNick
that's right nologic. One of the things that makes Southwest the way it is is Herb, love him or hate him.

freeupgrade
burkey - i don't know.

nologic
I was thinking of Herb.

burkey
Could you see Carty onboard, giving out bottles of Wild Turkey to pax? LOL

studley
LOL, with ice?

freeupgrade
i had lunch with someone yesterday who worked for AA in Acctg. for 8 years - (she was a stranger) - she had an interesting perspective on co.

freeupgrade
ICE???

freeupgrade
LOL

studley
hehehe...jk free

Randy Petersen
Say gang, I've got a few hours of homework to do so going to buzz on out of here. Thanks for your support of FlyerTalk and I can't say enough how sorry I am for the tech problems...... See you all online later!
