Fare Deal: United to Hawaii Starting at 25,000 Miles Round-Trip (Today Only)

A week ago, we witnessed a flash sale from United Airlines on award flights to India. Today, we’re seeing a new sale on tickets from North America to Hawaii, and like last week, you must book today to take advantage of the discount.

A Saver round-trip redemption between North America and Hawaii usually starts at 45,000 MileagePlus miles. However, as part of this promo, you can snag these flights for as few as 25,000 miles. Destination airports include Hilo (ITO), Honolulu (HNL), Kona (KOA), Lihue (LIH) and Maui (OGG). You must travel between Sept. 9 and Dec. 15.

Similar to last week’s sale, the discount depends on whether you’re an elite member and/or a co-branded United Airlines credit cardmember.

For flyers with a co-branded credit card, the rates are as follows:

• Member – 32,000 miles
• Premier Silver/Premier Gold – 29,000 miles
• Premier Platinum/Premier 1K – 25,000 miles

For those without a MileagePlus card:

• Member – 37,000 miles
• Premier Silver/Premier Gold – 34,000 miles
• Premier Platinum/Premier 1K – 32,000 miles

Remember to sign in to your MileagePlus account to perform a search. It’s how the system knows whether you qualify for a mileage discount.

Only economy flights operated by United Airlines are on sale. Blackout dates don’t apply, but you must book a round-trip itinerary.

 

As a United credit card holder with no elite status, I qualify for a rate of 16,000 miles in each direction, or 32,000 miles for a round-trip ticket. If I were to pay cash, the same itinerary from Salt Lake City to Maui is selling for $460 in basic economy, which allows for no free baggage, even if it’s carry-on size. However, with a mileage ticket, I could bring a carry-on bag on board without an additional charge.

Make sure to compare cash rates with mileage rates to determine whether this deal is what you need. If you have plenty of United miles, saving cash might be your best bet. You’re going to need a lot of it on the islands.
