Intercontinental Sofia
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a "King Bed Cosy Room Top Floor" according to my emails and received a "Bedroom Suite Cathedral View" according to the app.
How are the rooms?
Really huge - was just expecting a decent room, not a one-bedroom apartment-esque which is bigger than the two-bedroom apartment I'm currently living in. Bedroom on its own; two toilets, one more like a guest toilet and the other with a separate shower and a bathtub; a living room with L-shaped sofa and a writing desk etc. You get the idea.
How is the exec. lounge?
N/A
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Single night for 212 BGN, which is around 90 British pounds. Considering I booked just a week before my stay, and upgraded, totally worth it. Would return if I had any business to do in Bulgaria.
What was good and what was bad?
Really pleasant stay. Reception was extremely lovely, and referenced me about being a special valued guest because of my Ambassador status. Offered me a late checkout to 4pm even though they were fully booked the next day; declined it to make their lives easier plus I had business around the entire day. Asked a bit after I checked in if they could get me a taxi for the airport at 5pm the next day; arrived back at the hotel at 5:05pm and someone that I didn't remember seeing was specifically waiting for me and literally ushered me onto the taxi once he spotted me in the distance, which made me quite surprised that he knew who he was waiting for. Ended up arriving 2.5 hours before my flight at Sofia Airport's terrible Terminal 1, which is surprisingly because I thought I was going to cut it somewhat closer considering my schedule.
The no-fuss of the likes of CitizenM is usually more my vibe, but I left really impressed by my experience here.
