Booked the standard room, given King With City View (not much of an upgrade)

How are the rooms?

The rooms are VERY modern, of course due to being a new hotel. Floor to ceiling windows and somewhat decent views. Have a decent variatiom of room types to offer.

How was your complimentary welcome amenity?

Chose Diamond Breakfast for the next morning and got a "sweet treat" for saying the winter social password upon check-in.

What was good and what was bad?

Bad:

The bar is very small considering the area the hotel is in. Was not acknowledged when at the table top for 10 mins.

Room doors slam quite loudly and harsh and are heavy (clearly designed this way for security, but no insulation).

They're not aware with hospitality zest and Kimpton cultural knowledge of how to treat and delight Diamond members just yet. Asked for a non-suite upgrade (Panoramic View, premium room) via text before arrival, and they wanted to charge me extra. Mentioned password at check in and prior to arrival via text (Kipsu) and they disappointed again with offering a "sweet treat" that never arrived in my room. IHG, which has their America HQ minutes away from this hotel, explicitly mentioned during the rollout of the new IHG One, that they will monitoring hotels that grant Diamonds crappy upgrades. This needs to be on their radar. While not unappreciative, I think they couldve done better here with the multiple opportunities I provided.

Good:

Location of Hotel (close to MARTA Arts Center Station, MidTown, Atlantic Station)

Two restaurants on property

Modern room and common area furnishings

Quiet room without hearing traffic on 11th floor.


Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Will not return. There are other MANY hotels in the Atlanta area that offer a better value. Of the three Kimptons in Atlanta however, one is not better than the other, The Shane is just the least of the worst of the three (they're all horrible).
