As of 18 December 2020 Accor (finally) has a straightforward policy and a simple form to request a voucher. It may or may not work, however (it didn't work for IMH on 21.12.2020). The details in English are here: https://all.accor.com/event/information.en.shtml

The important part is as follows. I've removed the link to the form, however, as it's an individually generated URL.

Just a guess - I dont have any evidence to say it with certainty.

Well we are getting there. Accor still seems to have a problem calling it a global waiver but I guess "North and Central America, Europe (Except France and Italy), the United Kingdom, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific" is almost global now. South America is the last hold out for reasons known only to Accor.

All of this after weeks of missteps and dragging them kicking and screaming into reality. An early, clear and decisive waiver decision would have done wonders for the reputation. A reputation which is now very tarnished in my view.

I do not personally remember it, but did not a lot of people in 1939 say "it will all be over by Christmas" ?

Maybe this is the Accor Way. ?

Keep safe.

I think this is first time I have ever laughed in connection with an Accor policy - thanks for the humour!

But if you don't like the policy, just wait a couple of days. I'm sure they'll change it again to something else you won't like, but hopefully you'll dislike it just a little bit less than the previous iteration.
You forgot gender! Extra awful treatment for female customers in the communication from their Paris Mercure properties. Must be an Accor thing indeed.

I would expect most bookings to become cancel able very soon as Accor plan to close 2/3 of their hotels:

edit: Sorry just saw an earlier post about this.

Addon:
if it helps anyone who is trying to cancel their bookings in Thailand but can’t claim on insurance - this morning Thailand banned all arriving International Passenger flights which might give a new avenue under trip cancellation insurance.

We have a group booking for over EUR 3000 in Poland, in April. The hotel is refusing to refund, seemingly on the basis of "All group bookings, including for meetings and events, our global sales teams are working closely with hotels to provide the maximum flexibility possible, in assessing case by case the need to cancel or postpone events.". and saying that the text at the top of the page ("may ... cancel their reservation and be refunded without penalty") only applies to individual bookings. Obviously the hotel wants to keep its money...

How do I make contact with the relevant "global sales team" to try to get this sorted out?

This is good news for Mainland China etc, but is still the drip drip drip.

Accor : EVERYONE needs this, do it now. Also extend the Accor Plus by a year as well, or you will not get many renewals on this ....

This Is just my two cents worth, but if you can claim on your travel insurance or your credit card this may be the best way forward. At the best of times contacting Accor Customer Services is slow and clunky. Amy here can sometimes help, but she has not posted in a few weeks. Name and shame the hotel as well. Good luck and stay safe.

Shouldn’t everybody with a status expiring on 31 December 2021 also not have their status extended by a year then? i.e. +1 year for everyone.
