I called AC Res and asked her to check a YHZ-FLL via YYZ Tango Plus Fare and she says it's in S booking class. So not M/U which means if I booked it I still couldn't use my certs.

I did not know it was hidden in fare rule.
But I stand corrected nonetheless, I just see now that the class is now listed in the fare type, like "tango plus N". This must be a recent change.

So then ask them to quote you a M/U fare.

Thanks! So I looked into a booking to YYZ in Toronto, and this is what it said: Penalties:

From: Vancouver, BC (YVR - Vancouver Int'l)
To: Toronto, ON (YYZ - Pearson Int'l)
Fare Basis Code: L7FTPC

FCL: L7FTPC TRF: 191 RULE: ACFR BK: L
PTC: ADT-ADULT FTC: SIP-ONEWAY INSTANT PURCHASE
PE.PENALTIES
BASE FARE
FOR L7FTPC TYPE FARES

I would hypothesize that the code is 'L' but I thought that was no longer a valid code according to the Booking Class Realignment thread.......

I also tried YHZ-YYT, YHZ-YYC, YHZ-MIA, YHZ-LHR, YHZ-CDG And on the website it gave me the same thing, They were either L Fares or V Fares. a couple were S fares. Maybe it's not all loaded yet?

You will need to call in to purchase a M fare (which is the most expensive T+ fare). Cannot be done online unless this is the only T+ fare available.

Can you book a particular fare type on AirCanada.com or do you have to call in for that?

I just booked a YYZ-YVR return trip on T+ and got booking classes A and L.

EDIT: Oooh, Argonaut1000 just answered my question above!

M is indeed an expensive T+ fare. I tried a sample booking in T+. The outbound came up as V class for $450-ish while the inbound came up as M class for $980-ish.

To be fair, Latitude and C class (is it still called C class? Discounted J is what I mean. Wait ... is J still J? sigh ...) were significantly more then the M-class T+ fare.

It depends on which route you're looking at. IMO, an M fare which is double that of the cheapest Tango/Tango+ fare is a good deal.

And, M fare is not offered for every route. For example, I don't see any M fares to Japan.

Still confused.

I just purchased a 10 credit Tango + flight pass. Credits are booked in M class. This means I can use an SWU now? Even though the pass is clearly a T+ pass?

Will GA's know this and honour this?

You can use SWU using 2009 upgrade certificates since M class is printed as upgradeable on the cert so we are going to honor that. This has been well communicated to all the relevant front line staff so you shouldn't have any problems.

It will be interesting to see if this allows upgrade at time of booking. Unfortunately I have used up my SWUs and NAUs with full Latitude fares already, but still have the SSWU left - this should work with a M fare for upgrade at booking then?.
