Aeroplan Miles to travel the globe?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this form and thought this community could help out. I'm getting married in Sept 7, and I wanted to travel around the globe before the big day.

Here are my specs:

- Need to be in Beijing from Sept 4 - 9
- I want to travel to somewhere in europe (very flexible)
- I have 68,747 AMEX, 20,000 Aeroplan
- Travel ticket Budget of $3000-$4000 (for 2 ppl)

Ideal Trip

Toronto --> XXX Europe --> Beijing (sept 4-9) --> Toronto

What are my options?

I heard you could use miles on frequent flyers program and coordinate a Stop Over while travelling to China.

I'm new to this and would love to have some help planning this thing.

Thanks everyone !

I think you are a little short on miles. If you want to fly 2 people, you need 75,000 in economy or 150,000 each in business.

But besides the miles, you are allowed to make 2 stop overs plus your point of return, so YYZ - Europe (stop 1) - Beijing (point of return) - Asia (stop 2) - YYZ

Since OP has an Amex Rewards card if OP refers spouse-to-be for Amex Platinum (60K) and spouse-to-be signs up for the CIBC/TD 15K promo then they will have enough points. OP might be able to self refer to Platinum, in which case no CIBC/TD card would be needed. Buy $1000 in Costco/Shoppers gift cards right away to make minimum spend and get points ASAP.
Platinum costs $699 but with the $200 credit each year and the lounge access (OP will be flying Y) & hotel status it's a bargain.

You can fly through Istanbul on Turkish airlines for just over $2,100 pp, or Swiss from Montreal going through Zurich for $1400. You can use your points for a short haul YYZ-YUL. Try looking at Europe-based airlines that fly to both Canada and Asia.
