With that in mind, does anyone have any SSWUs they can part with?

Sure, for that iPod mini, no albums required...

Is there a CIC re this or something in writing on the website? If so does anyone know what it is as I can imagine many GAs will not be aware of it and it might be useful to have.

What would you have done?

Would I have used my remaining sswu's on upcoming return YOW/YYZ flights had I known about the extention? You bet, but I am hopeful that the concierge used them to upgrade some appropriately needy folks on a longhaul.

Oh well, life in the big city.

Back of the bus for me, 'cause there will be no way that I will use my new sswu's next week.

A related point is the use of the Aeroplan (E or SE) card, after the supposed expiry date of March 1, with the Star Alliance partners of AC. For example, one may have difficulty checking in by standing in the Star Alliance Gold line; of course, the more obvious question is getting into the lounge of that carrier, or getting priority boarding into the plane.

I am not sure that these other airlines would have ready access to the AC (CIC) regulation on extending the validity of the card beyond tomorrow.

This one is actually simple -- you most likely won't be able to use an expired Aeroplan P/E/SE card to obtain any *A Siliver/Gold benefits. Think of it as an expired credit card -- no merchant will accept a credit card beyond the expiration date printed on it .

Other airlines will not have any access to AC's internal systems and policies, such as those contained in the AC CICs.

I wonder if the Star Alliance carriers would accept the expired Aeroplan card, if the passenger showed written documentation (with him/her) from Air Canada, that the validity of the card would be extended by about 2 weeks?

I have found the card mostly meaningless as most * BP's have may number and "*GOLD" printed on them. My 2 UA ones today did

Have you tried using such a BP to gain access to one of the LH lounges without presenting your card?
