Parents need help chosing a credit card
My parents are going to Bermuda in October for a conference, and want to go J, it prices out at about $2000 each for full J. I suggested that they get a credit card that gives a 2 for 1 companion certificate, and then they can each pay about 1000 dollars for a J ticket. Right now they have the Visa Aerogold card, but I don't believe they will be getting a companion certificate with that anymore, any suggestions?? keeping in mind they probably won't actually use it, but I figure it's worth the annual fee for a J ticket to BDA.

J class is entitled to use MLL free of charge
If the parents are infrequent traveller, I shall not pay $175 to get the Platinum supplementary card. In this case, if they are flying in J, they should be able to use the MLL by simply presenting the boarding pass. At worst, the primary cardholder (father) can bring a guest (mother) for a fee of $10/$20 (depending on time). It's cheaper than getting the Platinum supplementary card especially if they are infrequent flyers. So just get the free Gold supplementary card.

175 dollars for a MLL pass is not worth it for me. Yes I will probably make between 10 - 15 more visits to the MLL this year, however sometimes they do let you in if your BP says J on it, even if you are upgrading, so I figure 5 or so MLL passes will probably cover me. And if I can't get them here, I'm sure that I can get them on ebay, for less than $175.

You can now use the 2 for 1 on C fare class as well so it may be worth it. See this trend:

And btw, youre not helping yourself around here with that last post.

Are all university students of this ilk nowadays? I couldn't have imagined what a lounge would even look like when I would use some of my last few pesos to roll into the Ottawa Voyageur station at 11:30 at night for the late night bus back to Kingston
