Did you know you can "buy" a Simulator ride?
Not sure if this is news to most people (or if I am a day late and a dollar short), but I read in Wednesday's Globe (Travel Section, page 2) that you can buy 1 hour in an AC simulator for 79,000 Aeroplan points.
So...I checked the "Your Style" section of the AP site and after a bit of digging I found it:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?Y25C564AA
The terms of the reward indicate that three people can have an hour in one of the sims.
Maybe Capt Kangaroo can get some practice .....
767 Flight Simulator
This Reward Experience is for 3 individuals and includes:
1 hour in an Air Canada Flight Simulator with an Air Canada pilot
Certificate as evidence of the journey
This experience is available in Toronto and Vancouver.
Flight Simulators available in Toronto include the Airbus 320 and the Boeing 767.
Flight Simulators available in Vancouver include the Airbus 320, the Airbus 340, the Boeing 737 and the Boeing 767.
Individuals taking part in this experience must sign a Release & Waiver Liability Form.
NOTE: All individuals must be of the full age of majority to execute this Release. If an individual below the age of 19 is taking part, consent of either the Minors parent or legal guardian must be obtained, and evidenced by the execution of the Consent of such parent or legal guardian. Minimum age: 10 years old.
The Reward must be booked a minimum of 30 days in advance. Being late for the scheduled session may result in a lost session. Rescheduling is made available at the sole discretion of Air Canada.

So that afternoon at the Flight Training Centre cost Aeroplan a cool 800,000 Aeromiles. Wonder if AC threw in the Inflight Cabin Simulator [and two charming FAs] for free? BTW we also got a nice little AC desk clock/paperweight, and logo'd souvenir envelope opener.

The envelope opener was styled like a tail, and my 11 year old said "why did they give you part of a model plane? where is the rest?"

Check with Parnel, CL. I think he received letters [from Ben Smith] and gifts for those were had to leave early.
Since it was 79K for three people, you'd only be entitled to 26K Aeromiles, ypqRD.

I believe that Canadian used to offer the same deal for 40K miles.
Oh and not to be too picky but the picture of the plane in the reward listing ISN"T a 767 - oops.
