Basically the way AC's doing it now, there will be some very happy people who get an upgrade even though they don't travel much, however the regular flyer who is upgrading will be very disapointed. At least if they had a full exec first service the regular flyer using an upgrade cert would have nothing to be upset about.

Maybe common sense classes were the electives I missed because of too many late nights in the Norton Pub

back to the topic at hand...this comfort class on major trunk routes (YVR-LHR) as opposed to seasonal , i think carries some risk. not all paying J passengers are flyertalk devotees; my Father probably flies internationally slightly more than once a month -always paid J (he has absolutely nothing to do with the booking- other people do that for him -as an aisde he can understand points but upgrades?frequent flyer discussion boards?no) he would prefer to travel with AC as he has the most points but if he got on a YVR-LHR flight and ended up with super comfort class instead of the executive first that he is accustomed to he would certainly be highly annoyed (and annoyed enough to say something to his travel agent -like dont book AC)
I've got to figure that there are a number of high yield customers like my Father out there that this change may upset. I think it fine to do super comfort on seasonal routes that there isnt any change along with the fairly wide range of domestic J, but if International traffic is the way you see growing your business, mixing up your business class product may not be the way to go.
