2 of 3 YVR - LHR flights with club class

There is probably not sufficient demand for J seats on those routes but there are also probably a large enough crowd of "affluent" leisure or "cheap" business travllers who are prepared to pay a little bit more for something better than standard economy, BUT not to the extent of paying a full J or C tickets. For those "small" number of travellers who want J, unfortunately they will either have to compromise to fly S or switch to another carrier that offers a full J service. The latter may not be the most convenient routing, say in the case of YYZ/ZRH and YYZ/FCO. It will mean at least one connection at an European hub vs. direct non stop by AC, except Alitalia for the YYZ/FCO run which is not a *A airline for status miles. This is my speculation.

Why should AC fly either empty J cabins, or J cabins which must be provisioned with full J catering and service for the 95% of those who will sit in those cabins who only paid for a cheap Y seat? If the paying loads justified it, AC would fly internationally-configured J cabins, but the loads up front don't justify this. I don't understand your complaint? The international J planes can make AC money flying many other routes this summer, and indeed they will.
If you really want business class, BA offers its sleeper beds...
And according to another thread, the second daily summer flight ex-YYC is similarly a Club configuration, as is one of the five dailies ex-YYZ.
If J was full when you flew this route, it was likely full of op upgrades and certificate upgrades. Did you pay full J?

Coming back from Frankfurt to YYZ later (on the same itinerary), we found that all of the business class seats were occupied on that particular flight.

Of course you could just be alluding to the good times in that rez (and the "Tunnel of Love")
Do you happen to remember the name of the Hell's Angels bar on the main street? Across from the Provigo?

The Provigo ... I lived in a basement apartment there during my last year. (I was either underneath the store or behind it--I can't remember which.) Woke up one morning during April exams and climbed out of bed only to step into four inches of icy water throughout the apartment.
I don't even remember a bar across from the Provigo. Must be getting old.

There were 4 places you could drink in town. The Len Pub - about 200 yards past Beaulieu's Provigo, great for hanging with the local farmers and for Friday night fist fights. The Golden Lion, founded by the Bishop's Economics Department...yeah really! The infamous G.. which has since gained respectability I'm told and the Norton Pub, which was the former dining hall before they opened up Dewhurst on the new side.
There were two phone numbers that were indelibly etched in my brain at the time. Jerry's pizzaria and the AC toll free reserverations number. I can still remember the AC number, but Jerry's has faded into the haze. I get a chuckle when I read about the current crop faking doctors notes to ride up front. When I was at BU, I was glad to go student standby in row 21 of a DC9 to get home for Christmas....How things change.

PS What was the tunnel of Love?? The hall to Pollack?

I never faked a doctor's note. The only bars around now are the Golden Lion, the Maysen, and planet-o-pub, which is hidden right next to capitaine grec, as I'm sure all the BU grads know

Here you go shore9: A great fare deal YVR-LHR and no need to worry about crappy domestic J seats.

Slightly related to the topic at hand.
Club class is now bookable online. It shows as a seperate tab at the top of the fare display screen.
Fares look somewhat reasonable. $1460 for YYZ-FCO in early June. For comparison, the discount Y class is $888.
