Sounds to me like getting the "little white card" isn't sitting too well with someone. The OP needs validation, somebody PLEASE give it to him.

Here's a swipe at SQ... you may want to sit down...

I've read a lot about how flying SQ is better than dying and going to heaven. Well, I can't really compare it because I haven't gone to heaven yet and with my luck, when the time comes to hop on the big elevator, the cable will snap...

However, I've flown SQ quiet a few times in both Y and C ( or J or whatever letter they use ) and other than cute flight attendants running around in tight dresses, I really don't see the appeal. Sure the F/As are genuinely friendly and helpful, but in Y the food was nothing special, the seats had the industry average seat pitch, the food was typical airline fare ( don't remember if I got the cheese and crackers or not ) and, sit down for this one... The video system wasn't on demand!!! In C the seats were better and I got to "Book The Chef" but low and behold, the Chef missed the flight! He was nowhere to be found onboard! The meal that he was supposed to prepare for me was prepared beforehand and shoved into a freezer for a few hours making it a typcial C class meal.

So what's the appeal? Must be the Flight Attendants....

I guess SQ is "one of the best" in the world. I have not found them to be amazing... I hate getting stuck in the SQ "old" business class seats. the food IMHO is light years ahead of AC but I think AC has some of the worst J food in the world

AC has PODS in all its international fleet that I use, so for now im sticking with that.

WF you couldn't have said it better. SQ's in-flight service and food are fantastic but I keep on drawing the short straw and getting an older 777 (I can't believe there is such a thing!) with business class seats that remind me of the old AC 762 J seating. The AVOD also sucks big time compared to AC (altho' they do have their map function working!).

Personally I liked Thai although I haven't flown them in quiet a few years. I remember getting an orchid on the tray, the food was really nice and I specifically remember they had Heinz ketchup. Things might've changed these days but it shows the power of customer satisfaction that I still remember how pleasant the experience was. As for SQ, personally I think they are overated, however, arriving at Singapore airport makes flying SQ worthwhile. Which other airport in the world do you arrive at and immigration has a bowl of candies on the desk and the first thing they say to you is: Welcome to Singapore! I almost passed out in shock!

Give up on the moving map. I was on a 767 this past week that had it working most of the way. It freaked out when we got close to the UK and couldn't receive anymore flight data. On the previous 767 and on all 777s and Embraers it just doesn't work...period.

Here's an idea. Get one of the little GPSIIIs on ebay and use that. It gives you ground speed so the ETA might be a little off but if all you want to know is where you are, it works prefectly. Oh yeah, always remember to ask the pilot if you can use it first... some guys don't understand the technology and come back with a no ( it's a wonder they can land a plane! ) but the majority don't have an issue. as a bonus, afterwards you can download the track to Google Earth and see the routing on there ( only works if you pay the $20 Google licence fee ).

Thai has great service but they have a lot of mismatched planes with old interiors. They also got stuck with some crap 345's that they even put in bad seats, however they have pulled these from long haul service. So on TG you get great service with crappy planes on AC you get crap service with great planes.

Has anyone noticed that....

Is it me or has anyone noticed that when they travel by plane, it's rare that they have someone of the opposite sex sitting next to them these days?

I just got off another flight ( not AC this time ) and I noticed three women sitting in the row in front of me ( none of them knew one another ). I can't remember when was the last time I've had a woman sitting next to me. I wonder if the airlines are screening male and female names and placing ( or attempting as much as possible ) to keep the same sexes together. Maybe there's been a little nocturnal groping or annoyance going on, but I thought those kinds of things only happened on the Asian airlines

I'm always seated next to extremely hot women. I believe it's an SE benefit. Or at least I assume they're SE.

Don't care if she's hot or not, I'm just getting tired of having males who weight 400lbs next me. It gives new meaning to sardine class. It's isn't an AC thing. It's definitely across the board...
