I've met someone else
Dear Air Canada,
I've been loyal to you for over 10 years as a Super Elite. I've offered to have make-up sex with you if you would re-think this 30% increase for instant KK. I haven't heard back and I have to be honest with you, I've met someone else.
I recently flew British Airways and they were really nice. Seemed to genuinely appreciate my business in this period where there's not as much business to go around. Polite, friendly staff, just like you would expect from a Brit (good stereotype). Actually Canadians have reputations as being polite and friendly too, but unfortunately I've encountered a few of your staff who don't fit this description.
The opportunity to resume our exclusive relationship is closing. BA may not serve all my needs, but it can replace you for my trips to Europe. Once that happens, I will start to question our Asia relationship.
I don't mean to be curt as we've been through a lot together, but I realize you need me more than I need you. If we break up permanently, I'm going to be spiteful. I'm going to tell family, friends and co-workers about what a poor partner you are. Also about how your "free" gifts to me end up costing me a lot of cash.
So what do you say, just show me you are listening and you care.

If it's anything like the "Dear John" notes I've received over the years, expect the recipient to just sneer and heave a big sigh of relief and toss your note in the shredder.

Especially if you dumped them for BA!

I'm sorry to hear that you're taking your business elsewhere, and hope that your BA experiences are as good as your first.
The only thing I'll say is that it amazes me how no matter what airline folks fly, the one they fly the most seems to be the subject of most of their wrath. No airline is perfect (though I'll admit some are closer to perfection than AC) and the grass always seems to be greener on the other side.
Good luck and godspeed with all your future travels.

Yeah, I thought the sterotype of the Brit was that they make off-colour remarks like golliwog, thus costing them their jobs.

Some other airlines, notably BA, differentiate in their frequent flyer schemes more distinctively between those buying premium fares from those bottom feeders who usually buy discount economy fares. I am not canvassing again here the flaws of Aeroplan that how some P’s may spend more than some E’s, and some E’s may spend more than some SE’s and consequently how unfair to some. It has been discussed to death.

Nice letter.
I actually think AC has lost its touch with its frequent customers.
Every contact appears rehearsed and robotic. Maybe I fly too much and it all seems a blur to me but occasionally when I receive true human service I make a point of saying so to the GA or FA. It is not about frequency of contact but quality !
If AC had more of that approach, there would be fewer of us thinking of alternatives.

It was my original stereotype of a Brit before I moved to England. I think you'll find this stereotype holds more water if you visit a typical English village outside of London.
Now, if you happen to work in the 'family-friendly' borough of Dagenham, in East London, your 'friendly Brit' stereotype holds absolutely no worth whatsoever! Granted, I am a Newfie-born Canadian brought up with excessive east-coast politeness, but that's how I see things anyhows.
To the OP, best of luck with whatever you decide. Perhaps AC will call you back.

I fly AC too. I'd like AC to be more loyal to their loyal customers. I am not expecting perfection. AC has the ability to do a lot better if they tried a just a bit harder and as a loyal AC customer in Canada flights ( I have NEVER flown Westjet) I think I should try to give them constructive feedback based on my experience.
