All through last year my online status said "maintain Platinum status for two more years and receive it for life", or words to that effect. I renewed my Platinum status again by the end of last year, therefore I expected my online status to change to "maintain Platinum status for one more year" by at least the end of March, but it still hasn't changed yet! It still says "maintain for two more years". I have just renewed my Platinum status again this year so technically I should have done everything that is needed for Platinum for life. Anyone else have their "years to go" not change?

Wow - you already qualified for Platinum during the first 3 months of the year, impressive!

They change the message after the membership year ends - so that is by Friday (April 1). I assume they change it to maintain for one more year (which I have seen for 12 months now) until they make next year's membership changes on April 1. Despite that you already qualified for 2012.

If I understand correctly, you will be informed about your LT status on March 2012.

Mods, would it be possible to copy the below information in one of the stickies?

Done! Though I wonder who actually reads the sticky

That said, thesis work is done so have plenty time to finish the rest of my "read this first guide".

It remains not a very clear situation - (s)he will not receive a letter on March 2012, but on March 2013 as (s)he qualified in 2010 for the 9th year and has now already qualified for the10th year. So (s)he will get the letter when the 11th year starts (and when the 10 year platinum has ended).

In short, you don't get a letter when you qualify for your 10th year, but after you completed the 10th year.

You are right about 2013. It is my mistake : I failed to add correctly.

The theory remains the same though.

Yes, just checked - KLM website gives no more "maintain-one more-year" message. In my case it now only gives my membership type and since when. Guess next year I will see the for life mentioned.

I'm not sure that there are 'far younger' PFL, but hey.... maybe they begin flying at 10.

10 is cheating I can't believe you can be a self-funded Plat at 10. Well unless you name is Justin Bieber.

The math is simple: you begin flying at 9/10, by the time you're 11/12 you get to plat and then you need JUST 10 more years, so that will lead you to PFL at 21 (IMHO that should be a record).

How NOT to feel appreciated . . .

I do agree - how NOT to feel welcome, if you ask me!

Actually, there are many things FB can do for their very frequent flyers, like
- access to Delta lounges when you fly economy domestic in the US
- an empty seat beside . . . (they should learn from their own PR, right?)
- start checking what else are there in other partner airlines that AF/KLM does not have?

So, what now? Just deteriorating service?

To our knowledge how are counted the Frequence plus rouge years towards platinum for life?

In my account it is written that I need to qualify only for one more year to get platinum for life but on the other side it is written that I am a plat member since 2005. it has always been my understanding that Frequence plus rouge years counted as plat for plat for life program and that this 2005 joining date for platinum was irrelevant for platinum for life.

Wanted to really confirm my understanding that I just needed to reach 70k miles by the end of the year and that i was done qualifying but will only get the official letter in 2013.(basically what has been said multiple time in this thread)

I just had a conversation with an FB agent to confirm my understanding and i am now confused. He strongly stated that my frequence plus rouge counted as gold and not plat and therefore I have only qualified for 6 years up to now and not 9?
told him that on their website it is written that only need one more year of qualification and he stated that it is a bug that they are aware of!!!

Asked him to get a confirmation call back from a superior to clarify this situation.

Do we have some kind of official statement from FB about the frequence plus rouge years?
