XP from Discount Passes
Hi everyone,
The discount passes of Airfrance (France-Europe-North Africa, Caribbean-Guyana Reunion Island, Combined Discount Pass) claim to give up to 40 XP for 569 eur (with ~16 eur per XP for Combined Discount Pass). Is it worth for progressing in the FlyingBlue program or there are cheaper options to get XP? And most importantly, do you think it is possible to buy the pass, get the XP and never use the pass? (I didn't find any objections in the rules: the conditions say that XP is rewarded upon buying the Pass)
Thanks!

You can routinely get XP for <10€ per point, from purely financial standpoint this doesn't make sense (unless there's additional XP awarded for the actual flights).
Timewise, maybe, though with inclusion of 3x earning in J, segment runs in Euro biz are now a good way to get 50+ XP in a weekend.

Buy an Alitalia or Air Europa business class roundtrip via FCO, LIN or MAD; 4 segments, totalling 60XP. Often available for <400 euro. Can be flown in a weekend, or possibly even a single day

Fabo.sk, could you please clarify what do you mean by "inclusion of 3x earning in J"?

Speaking of which, flying blue is currently making up rules about the card.
When a domestic flight operated by Air France but under Tarom code didn't yield the extra 2 XP they replied:
I couldn't find any single mention of the rule of being only for AF coded and AF operated flights (AF website, FlyingBlue and terms and conditions of the card). I also don't think there are AF coded and AF operated flights in Kenya or Romania... In the previous system, a similar flight was being counted as QF so why wouldn't it earn the extra 2 XP now?
We will see what they reply to my message.

If you have an Air France membership card, you will receive 2 XP (Experience Points) bonus for any domestic flight made in France, Romania and Kenya.
Thanks to it, you can maintain your level or access the next one even faster!
However, we specify that this bonus XP applies only on flights numbered Air France (AFxxxx) and operated Air France.

Therefore, if a ticket costs less than 3 times for J than for Y, it makes sense to go for the J ticket (if you are status running)
