Talking [Speculation] Fall 2018 New AS Route Announcement

We had a post recently with a message from twitter:

So what do you think might be coming up? Seems AS will have a fair bit of slack in the system come fall, which will help with reconfiguration and painting.

AS/QX/pmVX/OO... new city pairs, or just connect the dots?

I don't count my chickens before they hatch, I don't put all my eggs in one basket ... what other poultry-related sayings are there ... And if it is an SFO (or even more unlikely OAK) route, I wouldn't rely on it being around a long time. No FT spekulanshes here. I'll just await the next dartboard results.

MEX has been quite the rollercoaster for AS fluctuating between no service, and up to a couple daily flights each from 3 airports. Wish they would keep service there as it is useful to me, but understand it can be a tough market.

Edit (to keep with the topic): maybe they add LAX-GEG again

That is not going to happen. SNA is slot restricted so if they add a flight, they have to take away the same amount of flights.

Hey! Hopefully it's PSC to PDX!!!

Also, wouldn't mind PSC to LAX... our airport and corporate sponsors in the area have been trying to get a PSC to LAX direct for about three years now...

SEA-JAC. The only domestic route Delta flies from Seattle that AS does not.

The 2019 slot lottery wont be announced until October and there is no guarantee AS will even keep all the slots they have.

Does AA serve PSC? They seem to be the ones with xxx-LAX for the smaller airports in Oregon.

I'd just be happy with no further cutbacks in my little corner of the AS world. For speculation, how about CLE or CVG? OH/KY seems to be one of the larger holes in the network right now.

Whatever they announce, itll only last a year if its flown from SFO. If its a new city from SEA, itll only be 1x/daily and will start in fall 2019, like PIT.

(Selfishly Id love to see Charlotte).

I guess if people keep saying it then it becomes everyone's reality - sort of like the way Trump just keeps repeating crap until people start repeating it too. The reality is, Alaska added 12 cities and kept 8 of them. Would have been great if they had been able to keep all of them but they typically don't like to lose money so they decided there were better uses of those resources. 8/12 new routes from SFO are still on the schedule going forward.

(Charlotte isn't in their plans... or so they say - that too could change)

I too was noticing zero AS presence in OH....seems like a lot of good possibilities there...

which is such a strange strategy that no other airline hasnt thought of that. Oh wait, what happened to UAs LAX-SIN - how long did that last? And other examples can be found, of course, for every carrier.

Possibilities are technically endless over time. Probable success on the route? No idea. But I think a beer-themed hotel opened in Columbus recently. Get on it, Alaska.
