Figured I share these Spotify playlists with y'all.

This is for the .001% of you that enjoyed hearing the tunes played as you boarding your AS flight and ever wondered if there was a convenient way to listen to it all when at home. I wondered why AS never did this officially since it seems like a lot more convenient way to crosspromote than just relying on the magazine. As a result, I found myself with too much time on my hands and decided to scour the archives of the Alaska Beyond Magazine to compile all the tunes into their own seasonal Spotify playlist for listening pleasure.

Despite AS Beyond saying this Month's playlist, AS rotates their music every two-to-three months, (excluding all Xmas December). Also, AS Beyond didn't start listing Boarding music until June of 2017, I have no idea what was included before my first AS flight in March of that year (with that season being given from a DM with AS back in the day). So, feel free to list any others prior to that year if you are crazy enough to recall. And I wanna note that the Xmas playlists are lacking as some of the songs shown in AS Beyond don't show up on Spotify. Though, I'm sure that won't annoy anyone unless it's December when you're reading this

Without further ado, enjoy some indie music that brings back memories of shuffling your carry-on on it's side like above you, your personal item under your forward neighbor's seat, and depending on your status, enjoying a cardboard box of water while the peasants walk by or sitting tight in a narrow slimline! All of these are on Spotify for your listening pleasure.

I forgot about the Hawaiian tracks! Could someone, like, shazam them all on their next HI trip for record keeping?

I do fondly remember the crew accidentally playing Hawaiian music when we landed 5am in ATL and just rolled with it. Was nice wishful thinking.

 

Giving a slight update as it looks like they're going on a true monthly rotation. Added September's playlist to the post. It seems to be very... earthy?

 

Curious if we have a separate boarding playlist for Hawaii...everytime i go to LIH on AS it has Hawaiian themed music.

 

I almost went crazy when I heard the same song so many times on my weekly RT flights back in Summer 2016. Not sure what particular song it was that got to me, but I'm happy to never hear it again.

 

Thanks for the playlist! I couldn�t figure out what that song was during preflight, and this thread was exactly what I was looking for.

 

Does anyone know when AS will finally implement boarding music on the Airbuses? I've been on 23 Airbus flights this year (including 3 with the retrofitted AS cabin which I'd be sure would have boarding music) and there hasn't been boarding music on any of them.

 

the retrofitted planes do have boarding music - but I'm pretty sure that most people just aren't playing it. The reason they had to stop playing it was because Alaska Airlines FAA Cabin Safety Inspector decided that, if there were to be an evacuation after landing, the boarding music could drown out the Flight Attendants evacuation commands. Apparently, the Airbus had a feature where the boarding music automatically turned on after landing - whereas the Boeing has to be manually turned on. Post retrofitted planes have a different boarding music player that requires it to be turned on manually.

 

Added November (and presumably December). Christmas starts earlier it looks.

 

Saw at least 3 dogs get loaded into the hold on AS134 this morning.

For what it's worth, I heard Everyday by Weyes Blood while boarding SEA-GEG last month, but apparently it wasn't listed as part of the rotation?

 

Really early, in fact. Flew PDX-ONT on 10/30 and was blindsided by pre-Halloween xmas tunes. Yikes.
