I am EXP, but the question is: does it matter if the first flight is a domestic connection to an international one?

it doesn’t as long as you have same day connecting to qualifying international flight operated by AA. You will be able to use it

nope, however like others have said their awful about knowing access. Please report back if you get in. They need to get it right. Pull up your phone and argue with them until they let you in

Arguing with them is probably not the best approach. I would characterize it more of "educating". Access should be granted, just as one would have access to the FL in normal times due to the Int'l long haul segment on the same day.

it’s the same thing, your gonna have to explain to them you have access and they will a lot of the time say you don’t. That’s when you pull up your phone etc

I respectfully disagree. Arguing and having a civil discussion about a topic of disagreement are are two different things. Arguing rarely changes the other parties mind, so it's basically venting off (guilty as most on many occasions), while a civil conversation, with no disparaging remarks can lead to a different outcome.

Doesn't matter. And assuming you are on one ITN and EXP, your name will likely be on the list. If not, simply remind them of the policy. Be friendly and insist.
(FWIW - LAX FFCI is the worst in the system in my opinion. It only has value if there is a long line for pre-check.)

Overall, I am shocked that CI staff still don't know the rules. It is not complicated. AA could really create a single-page laminated chart and give it to all the FFCI staff so it would be finally cleared up.

Thanks everyone for weighing in ... I will let y'all know if I get thru FFCI ... it will be at 4:30am, so hopefully everyone involved will have had a morning coffee by then!

For goodness sake. The last time I was at the airport in those approximate hours was in Colombo, Sri Lanka, after a friends wedding night. I was was just happy to have lounge access..

I think they should just change the access rules to include exp on all flights. Then it would make it significantly less complicated

emerald, exp, ck get access on all flights
flagship first

thats super simple for the rep outside, however before the access change they were still getting the rules wrong

How come you think LA is the worst?? Its cool entering from outside right at the curb and its towards the end too so its not crazy hectic right there. I never used it at DFW or ORD but once at JFK and it took me a while to find it. I did MIA once but usually go out in F and back in J so not much exp on my Miami route that I do a lot.

In fact, i think maybe it got lost above in this other convo but can someone remind exactly where it is at MIA please?

The LA one is great and personally never had an issue with my name not being right on it. And always get the super quick escort right upstairs. I love the red doors and how they are there outside at the podium to greet you.
