BXP1 with consolidator Fares (AmexTravel)

Getting back to traveling, and hopeful that upgrades are more likely in short terms. I am AA EXP, so plenty of experience with this stuff. For those of you familar with BXP1 upgrades they are limited programmatically to not fare codes BNOQS. I booked in G and was told not eligible

I called ahead to confirm that upgrade space was available on my itinerary MIA->BOS, and confirmed that at that moment more than 2 were available. I also confirmed that the cheapest ticket that would not be excluded was in "G" Fare Class (which is not "B, N, O, Q, or S.")

Once I booked and ticketed thru my Travel Agent ("Reservations may be made and tickets purchased from any authorized Travel Agency or American Airlines.") which is American Express
confirmed in G Class.

I called to apply the certificate and was told that since the ticket was bought thru an OTA or "consolidator" it wasn't eligible. I have done this tens if not hundreds of times before.
I will be calling Business Extra desk today to discuss.

Has anyone dealt with this before? In this case i plan to cancel the ticket and rebook via AA, as upgrading to first on this first post pandemic trip with my wife is too important to mess around. I am very unhappy with this potential change.

any other experiences?

Did you try just upgrading on the business extra website yourself? No need to call anymore...

Yes, these are redeemable online now at business.aa.com once ticketed.

If that doesn't work, a call to Meeting Services should clear things up.

yes, there’s a separate section in expert flyer for upgrades that can help you identify if the “right” c inventory is available. C is now a revenue bucket too.

As long as you're just searching one segment at a time on EF, the upgrade C space will now show up by default.

Yes C7 in this case my query was dfw-hnl tomorrow morning. Both nonstops show C7. I'm using this as a barometer for the flight I'm taking on March 11th (dfw-lax-hnl) to see that at only 24 hours out they are releasing C availability.

I didn't understand the work around offered in the thread about this so I sent a PM to the EF contact for clarification.
