I was able to receive the exact language of the company policy from American Airlines today via Twitter regarding PDB's. I was actually quite impressed they followed up with me regarding a conversation that started a few days ago. I also received a nice note from Hector Adler who I also reached out to who said that pre-departure services were discussed at great length at a meeting late last week. Let's hope things begin to improve and if not we continue to press the FA's to follow company policy.

@AmericanAir 08/18 AA123 ORG Limited #PDBServed
This allows all PDB service to be posted, good, bad, and otherwise. This should show AA that we feel this is a desired service. Maybe if someone gets energetic, a summary post could be done, maybe weekly?

Push the call button for refills. The more people do it, the more the FA's will get off their butts and do their jobs. (The good ones already do!!!)

Unacceptable on a 6 hr flight.
I wrote to AA. The response I got us probably a canned one. They said they take this very seriously, they'll look into this specific flight, pass it along to the proper department etc.
If everyone that does not get a full PDB choice and/or bad service, as you commented, complains, they'll be inundated. Maybe they'll be forced to improve to a more consistent service.

Last week:
LAX-SFO - Eagle/Compass - PDB ^
SFO-LAX - LAA - Two FA's sat chatting in the galley during boarding. Never even came by to ask for coats. Took forever to get beverage service going once airborne. We were already descending into LAX when I finally got my drink.
Complimentary/Negative tweets sent.

LGA-ORD nadda (saw from first row of MCE)
ORD-LGA nadda (although catering was coming on during FC boarding and coats were taken very proactively). Still plenty of time to make an offer of PDB. There are 4 FAs on these planes.....it's not rocket science.
Edited for ORD-LGA.....after push back they can't start an engine even though this plane just came in from LA. Go back to gate and finally open bar PDB is done for the whole FC cabin in less than 5 minutes of the door opening. It's not that hard!

1/20 LAX-SJC #5965 on AA Eagle/Compass - PDB offered in a 50% full first.
No tech execs on that flight, I guess... Could be that you have to go all the way to 44A-K gates via bus, for flights to large destinations like SJC... and would rather not do that and opt for another carrier

Jan 19 AA 937 JFK to SJU. Delayed for about 40 mins because the hydraulics were too cold. We were fully boarded, door open. PDB not served until last minute, and then only oj and water. When asked for anything else, pax were told nothing else was available until after take-off.

January 21 Flt #113 MIA-MCO:
PDB's - anything you want served by friendly crew.
Drink orders for after takeoff taken while on the ground and drinks served immediately after we were in the air.
Refills were offered though we were in the air only about 30 minutes. The snack basket came around twice too.
A very good performance by a friendly crew!^

1/14 PHX-DFW Nothing
1/14 DFW-GUA OJ or Water (looks like the sparkling wine is breaking the budget)
1/18 GUA-DFW Nothing
1/18 DFW-PHX Nothing (but the FA was superb once in the air).

4 flights this week, only 1 of them had any PDB provided and that one was only water. I did notice that AA added that question to their post flight survey so hopefully this is beginning to attract some attention.

Geez, if that's really what FA's SHOULD be doing, AA needs to re-examine their hiring screening/practices and training because all of those things rarely EVER happen.

If AA is positioning itself to be the airline of LA / entertainment industry, they're gonna have to step up all aspects of their premium service to beat out DL.

LGA-ORD and water or OJ on a 655pm Friday night flight (doesn't everyone want OJ after a long week??). Asked if a white wine was possible and got a laugh and a "Not yet".

May they always be able to get away with their lAAzy shenanigans. I hope you sent or send a Twitter message. I received a formal apology in an email for the ginger ale denial last week.

ORD-LAX: nothing not even an attempt at anything although the TWO FAs in the galley had plenty of time laughing, not greeting people and helping themselves to coffee. Tweeted AA about yesterday and just now.....
