I was able to receive the exact language of the company policy from American Airlines today via Twitter regarding PDB's. I was actually quite impressed they followed up with me regarding a conversation that started a few days ago. I also received a nice note from Hector Adler who I also reached out to who said that pre-departure services were discussed at great length at a meeting late last week. Let's hope things begin to improve and if not we continue to press the FA's to follow company policy.

This allows all PDB service to be posted, good, bad, and otherwise. This should show AA that we feel this is a desired service. Maybe if someone gets energetic, a summary post could be done, maybe weekly?

Considering the number of "cramped full" flights (typically LUS) where I've received a PDB -- or half-empty cabins where I haven't -- I don't think that actually explains it at all. Except in extraordinary circumstances, FAs always have the ability to offer a PDB, and a F cabin simply being full doesn't qualify as extraordinary these days.

I have been on way too many sold-out/over-sold flights to say that a full flight explains it.
pmUS FA's are crazy quick at getting the drinks out without delaying the flight one second.
There is one thing that explains it 90%+ of the time. Lazy.

7/25 LGA-DFW AA#1281 LAA A32B - Tray of water and OJ, but asked if you would like anything else. I consider this a full PDB.
7/25 DFW-SFO AA#2207 LAA A32B - Full PDB ala LUS style. Seasoned FA would stop people from boarding to take and deliver orders.
2 for 2 on LAA I should go play the lottery today!

Isn't providing the date and flight # sufficient? Also, does it really matter either way- does anything happen to the lazy FAs?

Nope. Nothing happens to them, nor does AA care. They've made that very clear. All they care about is slamming the door shut at T-10 minutes. Whether the flight actually leaves 10 minutes later or 10 hours later, well again, they don't care.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the (disappointing) clarification!

did fairly well on my recent travels, flight back from OGG was the only one completely lacking. They didn't even have any red wine on board when this was requested during the main drink service (I say main, there was a half hearted attempt to see if we wanted anything). All flights had full or nearly full cabins apart from the LAX - JFK in F where it was only half full:
7/9 723 - DUB-PHL - Champagne, OJ, water
7/9 701 - PHL-LAX - water
7/10 253 - LAX-OGG - full bar service (plenty of cocktails being ordered despite the 08.35 start and a pleasant crew)
7/22 014 - OGG-LAX - absolutely nothing offered
7/23 002 - LAX-JFK - Champagne, OJ, water (A321T First)
7/23 290 - JFK-DUB - Champagne, OJ, water
7/9 723 - DUB-PHL - Champagne, OJ, water
7/9 701 - PHL-LAX - water

LAA B738 07/24 MDE-MIA FLT 923 Water-Juice offered, but FA said the full bar when a passenger asked, and I got a Scotch on the Rocks.
LAA B738 07/24 MIA-BWI (don't have the FLT number, but 9:50 p.m. departure) OJ and water offered, no mention of other options, and I didn't ask since I didn't want anything.

I have to say...this is my favorite thread. I have an unhealthy obsession with pre-departure beverages.
I'm flying this weekend, and I'm already thinking....will one be offered? If it's only a tray of water, will I have the GUTS to ask for more? It's an 830am departure...will I get the side-eye from the FA and others if I order a cocktail? What cocktail should I order? I really want a scotch or a bourbon, but should I go more mainstream with a bloody mary? What if they didn't board the "good" bourbon? Will I be on LAA or LUS?
Like I said...unhealthy obsession.

Personally I usually go with a mimosa or Bloody Mary for departures before 11am. Afterwards it's anyone's guess depending on what kind of mood I'm in.

7/25 - AA200 - JFK-MIA - LAA - tray of water and oj. Asked for a beer. Cheerful yes from FA. Had she said, 'water oj or something else', it would have been perfect.
Great service throughout the flight.
