I was able to receive the exact language of the company policy from American Airlines today via Twitter regarding PDB's. I was actually quite impressed they followed up with me regarding a conversation that started a few days ago. I also received a nice note from Hector Adler who I also reached out to who said that pre-departure services were discussed at great length at a meeting late last week. Let's hope things begin to improve and if not we continue to press the FA's to follow company policy.

@AmericanAir 08/18 AA123 ORG Limited #PDBServed
This allows all PDB service to be posted, good, bad, and otherwise. This should show AA that we feel this is a desired service. Maybe if someone gets energetic, a summary post could be done, maybe weekly?

Would setting up a page on this Board just for posting the flight # and date be a quick and easy way to document no PBD and perhaps get AA to pay attention?
12/-8--1425 DFW to DCA 11052--no PBD although plenty of time. Worst was male flight attendant stunk--had obviously gone out for a quick smoke. Where behind security (other than AA Club) can one get a quick smoke? Thougth of him smoking on the tarmac is disturbing.

My theory to why US is better than AA on PDB
My theory for the superior performance on US vs AA on the PDB is the influence of Doug Parker. Clearly we know the importance of alcohol in his life, thus the importance of it in the mindset of making sure US customers get a PDB.

Predeparture Drinks/Beverage (PDB) - When, What and Why Not? (consolidated)
Currently on 2268 DFW-FLL and pretty much fully boarded at 6:27 (6:45 departure time).
Seen this rodeo before and no PDB will be offered.
FA just milling around in the galley.

Another fail on AA 1061 CLT-IAH.
Fully boarded :12 to departure and nothing offered.
Just announced an additional :05 gate hold to leave and nada.
My US Airways flight PBI-CLT delayed offered full PDB.

Full PDB service on AA 27 DFW-LAS on a 752. F cabin was 1/2 full and boarding was done through L1. FA managed to serve an open-bar PDB service despite L1 boarding, and even offered refills since we were on a lengthy MX delay.
Full PDB on US airways flight LAS-PHL in the midst of a hectic boarding process through L1.

Does this website have anything to do with AA's FAs' disdain for doing their job and serving full PDB's?

2 Data points to add to this thread from my flights Saturday. One on AA and one on US.
AA 1151 DFW-DEN FA offered to hang coats after boarding finished we sat at the gate for another 5 or so minutes with the door open. She disappeared didn't offer drinks.
US 1782 CLT-EWR full bar PDB was offered while boarding was still going on.
It was funny to see the difference between the two on the same day. I thought about asking for a drink while she was taking my coat just to see her reaction, but decided it wasn't worth it.

Welcome to the #newamerican where the worst of AA and the worst of US are combined. I'm seriously almost so done with these people....I have no problem paying for DL First but refuse to on AA anymore.

This past week, for the first time, I was offered PDBs on an AA-marketed flight...
...operated by Republic. Wonder if they were ex-US-Express FAs who hadn't got the memo that AA doesn't do this.

Having worked at AA for 37 years, now retired, I have seen and heard it all. What I can tell you is since 2001 pay for flight attendants at AA is virtually unchanged. Flight attendants VOTED TWICE to give themselves pay cuts since 2003 to help save the company. Management over my long career comes and goes after rewarding themselves but there is very little turnover for flight attendants and they have LONG memories. So, AA flight attendants are pissed. They are NOT getting paid while the door is open. So maybe no PDB is one way of expressing that displeasure.

IF given enough time during boarding I do make an attempt at pre-departures. Unfortunately AA schedules aircraft turns at 40 minutes between arrival and departure. I used to stop boarding to get orders and hand them out. But the agents were always on my a** about passengers backing up on the jet bridge. They are under immense pressure to get the door shut 10 minutes prior to departure. If a plane departs late because we stopped boarding for pre-departures, we are the ones hit with a delay. Often times we are not catered until the agent brings down final paperwork and it's time to shut the door. Once door is shut there we cannot do pre-departures. That is an FAR in which we can receive a personal fine. Due to the boarding madness, pre-departures are not as high priority as having the cabin ready for departure.
