I was told the same thing, that they would only allow 100k on the combined cards and that they could move the limits around any way I wanted. I went over that today to.

Now if I could only get my personal amex delta card up as well. I guess I will have to wait until next month for that one.

Sometimes if the computer won't give you an increase, the phone will. Also, it's been said that while filling out the "form" on the website will result in a credit inquiry on you, calling on the phone and providing the same information via the automated system will not...

This is very impressive. I didn't know that the online LOC tool was this lenient, or that there was this much pent-up demand for large limits on Amex cards.
drbond, curiously, is your $350k all in credit cards or are you counting charge card exposure limits (the kind you have to coax out of a rep) in the mix?

I was shocked as well and it is all on my "credit cards" I did not count my charge card guide lines in the mix. I know I can get another 200k out of that.

Actually, noticing just now that you have a Centurion card, I'm not so surprised anymore. You've presumably already proven to Amex that you can manage a lot of credit.

In the past two months AMEX has doubled the credit limit on one of my cards and quadrupled it to a truly ridiculous figure on another. I had to send a written request to ask that these credit limits be reduced to their original amounts.

Why ? ... A credit limit is simply an indication of how much American Express is willing to lend you. Why should them changing that indication in a positive way be a problem for you? Or is this an obscure credit scoring issue or something?

I already have more available credit I will ever need and adding to it would only hinder my ability to finance a property project. Hence the

People on the Fatwallet forum have tried amounts above $25k with success...but the results are meaningless without knowing the cardholder's income and payment history. Amex will certainly not allow the same maximum credit limit to someone with $30k income and short history as they would to a longtime customer with $300k income and perfect payment history.
It's also not a good idea to overstate your income. I'm not familiar with the applicable laws, but it sounds like that would be considered fraud.
