Asiana In-Flight Handouts

Hi there,

I will be flying OZ F NRT-ICN then ICN-LAX later this year and I was wondering if Asiana has any free handouts like cards, treats, etc. I flew on Singapore Airlines earlier this year, and even in economy they gave out SQ playing cards, as well as SQ Monopoly Deal cards. Does Asiana do the same thing? What should I ask for?

Also, I'm assuming they have kids handouts that would be nice to give to my nephews/nieces..? Does anyone know what these are?

Thanks so much

On recent OZ flights there's been a ton of kids and while I didn't get a good look at it, the kid in the row in front of me on one of the flights had the handout and was punching out some cardboard figures and putting them upright on the card. Sorry, it's not very descriptive, but I don't have any kids so wasn't particularly interested in what exactly it was. It wasn't just some crayon coloring deal like I've seen on some airlines. This was in Y. I have no idea if the handout is different in C or F.

BTW, what is it with all of a sudden having so many families flying OZ? Perhaps there's some special promotion whereby they can fly for really cheap? On many of my OZ flights this month, the majority of passengers are families with young children. Some with just the mother and her children, and others with the mother and father. I've never in my life seen so many families traveling on any flight on any airline. On some of the flights I'd estimate over 80% of the passengers are families. I didn't notice anything unusual in that respect last month, even though August is the major month for Koreans to be vacationing. Perhaps just September brings lower fares after the vacation season is over, so families can better afford to fly now compared to during high season.

You pretty much nailed it. August and Sept are two busy months for travel with families. I wish the bassinet was some place in the back of the plane, instead of the first row of Y. Having OZ's frequent fliers suffer through crying babies is too much.

A friend travelled on OZ in business class from SYD-ICN and the flight attendants put on a magic show! I couldn't believe it..... apparently the magic show did draw attention away from the hideous excuse for IFE that OZ has, so all in all probably not that bad afterall.

Read the review here.

My last ICN-LAX flight on OZ had a Love Letter service. Basically you write a letter on the plane (they give you paper, pens, stickers, markers and any other stationary), give it to the FA's and they include in Asiana's internal mail to anywhere in the US or Korea (for free).

My gf got a huge shock a week after my flight when she got a letter from me at her work addressed from an OZ plane :P

This is interesting.

I asked OZ FA if they have playing card, on two different occasions. Neither said they have that.

YMMV. The crew on this particular flight were exceptional imo (even by OZ's own high standards), and I've never seen this on any of my previous ICN-LAX flights (and vice versa). Granted, that's only been 5 times, so not the largest sample

Magic show, love letter service are not standard on all OZ flights.

Btw, were you flying Y ? Maybe that's the reason.

I don't think they do shows or love letter on ICN-SFO route. I have flown this route a few times (in Y) and didn't see that, but service and food is pretty good.
