When will my OZ *G card arrive?

Hi,

I just reached OZ *G status (diamond) I am flying again in about 21 days.

1) Will my card be here by then? I am based in the UK.
2) If not, can I used the iPhone mobile membership card?
3) How long does it take the other *A carriers to recognise my status?

Thanks

1) Don't know about the UK, but I'm based in Germany and it took 2 weeks. My original silver card took 3 1/2 weeks though and OZ officially say 2-3 weeks.

2) Yes, that shouldn't be a problem.

3) Not sure, but I took a TK flight a few weeks after I got my card and they even recognized my lounge access coupon (supposed to only apply to OZ metal flights, but somehow I was granted the advantage anyway).

I find that the card usually arrives quickly, but only after chasing them by email. Good luck.

it took my friend and i multiple calls and wait multiple weeks before they would send us our cards, so i'd just call them now and make sure their system doesn't forget you in some way.

also, the mobile membership card is only good if you're traveling on OZ. but if you're flying other airlines and looking to get into non-OZ lounges, chances are good that you'll need the physical card most likely (e.g., i know UA and AC ask for the physical card).

I turned OZ Diamond after the first leg of an STPC flying SYD-ICN-LHR. Because OZ credits the mileage when you check in, I was able to pick up a Diamond Card from the ICN OZ service centre - right next to where the STPC bus departs.

As a UK based Diamond, THAT was fast.

Of course, the luggage tags never turned up, so I picked those up the next time through ICN at the same place.

It's hit-and-miss with UA. I just completed doing a lot of flying on UA, all credited to my OZ account. At some lounges they asked for the card, and at some lounges they just scanned my boarding pass and let me in. Even the very same lounge, at the very same terminal but different days they required the card one day and not the next.

With my experience with UA, they go with whatever is on the boarding pass. In fact I wrote a complaint to UA because they refused my lounge entry (I didn't have the actual pass) because my boarding pass claimed I still had OZ*S, though the SIN SQ Lounge and NRT NH Lounge welcomed me in after confirming my OZ*G status on their own systems. Had to use a one-time club pass as a result, and I still didn't get any response from UA.

Just became a OZ diamond, and I will flying off from PVG on Wednesday morning to see if they will let me use the lounge without the card. Upon arriving at ICN, pick up the new card from Asiana club counter.

i emailed the Sydney office on 9th Oct. they got in contact with the UK office and the card arrived on 12/10.

Pretty quick really and happy.

No baggage tags as of yet. Should I chase them up?

I recently requalified for Diamond and with the current card set to expire on Jan 31, 2013 and planned travel in early Feb 2013, I emailed the regional office in LA and inquired about getting the new card early so that I will have it by the time I travel. However, the response was that it's not possible because the new one will get sent once the old one expires. Is that the experience here? If so, then I probably won't get it in time for my travel. Is there anything I can do? TIA.

If you get reissued cards right now, it'll have the old expiration date on it, hence pointless.

I guess I haven't been traveling much but don't the lounges go with what's on the boarding pass, unless the Alliance system didn't catch up to what Asiana has on file. All my boarding passes have the status on it recently.

If a card can over ride the boarding pass, should I bust out my old Diamond card before the expiration dates were on them....haha........

You can also print out your own pass or use their app and navigate to the mobile membership card section. I would do the latter if you have a smartphone.

Most lounges (at least the ones I have visited) require the physical card despite of what appears on BPs because sometimes the new status is not reflected in the system when there is a recent change.

The potential problem is whether it's acceptable to *A lounges (I would imagine OZ lounges won't be a problem).
