Lounge Access at HKG for Star Golds in Economy on Asiana Flights
Please could I ask a question about lounge access at Hong Kong if you are Star Gold but travelling on Asiana in economy?
From the Asiana website it appears they use the Dragonair lounge and that this doesn-t close until 00.30. This would seem to fit in with the departure of my flight at 01.10. However, if access is only available to business/first passengers and the other Star Gold lounges like Thai close at 11, then maybe there isn-t actually usable lounge access.
Perhaps I should check if any lounges that stay open late are available through Priority Pass.
I would be grateful for any clarification. Thanks in advance.

To access that lounge is not with a boarding pass, it is with a lounge invite from the checkin area. You hand your *G card when you checkin at HKG, then they will give you a lounge invite, doesn't necessary only for business/first passengers.
And btw, in order to access other lounges like TG and UA, you need to prepare yourself plenty of time. As both TG and UA lounges are far away from OZ gate, and the underground train only go one way, you have to walk back (arrivals go the other way, the two levels are not connected)

Last time I was on that OZ flight, I used the SQ lounge with my economy BP and *G card. But normally the SQ flight leaves many hours before the OZ flight at which time the SQ lounge closes. However on the night I was there, the SQ flight was delayed by 3 or 4 hours so made a nice change of lounges to be able to use it till only 30 minutes before my OZ flight. Chances are you won't be so lucky though.

Many thanks for your input, SKRan, ORDnHKG and A_Lee.
ORDnHKG:
When I used the lounge finder feature on Star Alliance.com, it produced about 7 different lounges including the Dragonair Lounge (with First/Business class in brackets next to it). When I refined the search criteria by putting in my FFP/status details, it produced only SQ, UA and TG. From this I assumed visiting *Golds in economy were not welcome in this lounge, as is the case with the Silver Kris Lounge at SIN. So many thanks for letting me know this isn-t the case with OZ at HKG.
A_Lee:
Somehow I don-t think I-ll be so lucky, but I-m glad to hear you had a nice change of surroundings on that occasion.

If you have a *G card, but credit your miles to a different FFP that you don't have *G with, you might also be denied access, though I'm not sure being I haven't tried this. Actually, I've only tried it while crediting the miles to my OZ *G card, not any other *A carrier's gold card, so cannot be 100% you'd be given access in that case, but for all other similar instances I've run across, I've gotten access, including other OZ contract lounges with another carrier's *G card. So I believe you'll be fine.

The Dragonair lounge is just a contract lounge that OZ uses. It has nothing to do with *A. That's why it's not listed on the *A lounge finder. Provided that's still the contract lounge they're using when you fly, OZ will give you a lounge voucher to enter this lounge with if you're flying them in C or F or if you have *G and flying in Y. Anyone else flying another airline will not have access because it's not a *G lounge, unless that other airline also uses it as a contract lounge.

SQ lounge open until 23:30
I just flew HKG-ICN this week in C on the 12:30 a.m. departure. I am also a *G. When I checked in the agent provided me the CAAC lounge pass.
Flight departed from gate 17 so I went to the SQ lounge and was admitted with just my BP and *G card without question. The agents told me it would close at 11:30 pm. The last SQ departure was before that (I believe around 11 pm) so the lounge was left to just me for the last half-hour or so.
At that point I went to the CAAC lounge which was actually quite nice. Large food selection even at that hour, ample seating and as it was on the upper level, bright and open.
SQ lounge is on the lower level and also has no bathroom in the lounge - you have to exit to use the loo.
