Asiana *A booking classes eligible for miles
I'm usually not one to vent online, but Asiana's policy towards recognizing booking classes as eligible for mileage accrual on *A flights has become a bit of a pet peeve of mine.
I just looked into flights from FRA to JFK and once again came across the following problem (these are Y fares fyi):
Aside from venting my frustration, I am curious about:
A) Does anyone know what sort of factors Asiana considers in making these seemingly arbitrary decisions (for instance I could imagine them being lenient towards UA because they need to rely on them to get their pax from an OZ destination in the US to wherever they're going, but no clue why they are so mean to LH)
B) Do any of you guys fly LH in Y and credit it to OZ? If so, how do you get a decent fare without paying a fortune?
Thanks for any info you can provide, I'd really like to fly LH more again if I can due to their decent service, decent price, and particularly convenience for flights involving Germany.
Edit: Oh and I'm sorry I made a new thread, I just realized this might be better off in the preexisting booking class thread.

A) The amount the Operating Airline pays Asiana for crediting the miles. That is what determines how many miles you get.
B) I can't answer as I don't credit my LH flights to OZ.

I think if you check with a lot of FFP's, you'll see that you'll earn similar rates on LH flights. It's definitely mostly to do with the carrier you're flying, not your FFP. Of course there's lots of exceptions to that as well.

It is a bit of stretch to say that any fare short of a full flexi will earn less than 100%. Fare bases G, V and Q still offer 30% off a flexi fare in M, and more than 50% off the full flex Y fare while still earning full miles. A TA can book directly into these buckets, but the LH website will always default to offering the lowest available fare bucket for the type of fare selected, so for Economy Basic, W or S is always offered ahead of G,V,Q if space is available. The average traveller wants the lowest fare for the ticket conditions offered. Only FTers would have it any other way
As per other posters, this is really a bone to pick with LH, not OZ.

In any case thanks for clearing this up for me guys, I will now shake my fist at LH and apologize to OZ for my false suspicions
