When does Asiana release seats?
I am booked from JFK-ICN in C and according to the online seat map C is fully booked and I am stuck in a middle seat. Really dreading the idea of 14h in a middle seat on a paid C ticket so I was curious what the typical experience is with Asiana releasing additional seats around the time online check-in starts. What time does online check-in start? From experience, do a lot of new seats open up then?
Thanks in advance for any tips on this.

I think it only opens up just a few days before the flight. Best way to get a seat is to call them and ask. But they will still block some choice seats for their FF members. Perhaps you can call and ask what seats are available, take one of those seats. Then later at check-in (or 24 hours before online) see what else is available.

Not an expert since I typically do not fly Asia - US but isn't JFK-ICN a Quandra Smartium route? In this case, "middle" seats still have access to the aisle and this should not be an issue.

This is for a flight before July 22nd so it has the old seats and 2-3-2 arrangement (I am surprised why ORD would have had QS seats all along and not JFK...).
