Getting BA.COM to recognise oneworld Sapphire for free seats

Getting BA.COM to recognise oneworld Sapphire for free seats
Advice please: When trying to book BA tickets on BA.COM, using my AA PLT status (one world saphire), I am being charged to book seats at time of booking, even though I put in correct AA PLT number. Do I need to actually book and pay for the ticket, then go back in and see if the BA computer then recognises status?
(It is NOT an award/redemption ticket but a paid for ticket)

Yes. It can instantly lookup BA FF numbers, but must be a fetch for other schemes triggered by booking/ticketing.

Book, add number. Dont pay for seats. Go back later and it’ll be fine
