In-Flight Paid Upgrades

On one of my flights last week I was chatting with the CSD about on-board upgrades. I thought that they had a long list of M-J and J-F fare differences which they'd look up for the relevant route, but the system has now been changed and an M-W is Ł250 for most long haul (except UK-OZ) and Ł700 for M-J. That's a pretty good deal (but, of course, you run the risk of no seats available or no catering, so they can't do the upgrade).

So, does anyone have a full list of the upgrade options / costs and relevant T&Cs? Specifically. does one have to have a full fare (Y/Y2 etc) ticket to upgrade?

You do realise too when an upgrade is done on board, you are not officially on the manifest for the upgraded class and thus, you will not be entitled to the miles in the class you upgraded for.

That was going to be my next question, but I forgot to ask it. I wonder if you sent the documentation to the Exec Club chaps whether they might give you the miles.....

They've done them for ages (long as I can remember) but you used to have to pay the full Y-J (or whatever) difference. Now with the fixed cost, on some routes it could be a lot cheaper to upgrade on-board (but subject to availability etc)

Considering that the difference between full Y and J is a lot less than the difference between what most Y paxs are paying and J, this sounds like a good bargain to me.
