British Airways Concorde Auction

Fresh from the press

Dear Mr Davidson

As a valued member of the British Airways Executive Club we would like
to update you on the latest news regarding the retirement of Concorde.

British Airways, in conjunction with International fine art auctioneers
Bonhams, will hold a charity auction on 01st December 2003, selling
memorabilia from our recently retired Concorde fleet, offering you the
chance to own a piece of history.

Profits from the auction will be donated to the charitable causes with
a key beneficiary being Get Kids Going!

To offer you the opportunity to view the items being auctioned, Bonhams
have produced a unique catalogue containing pictures and interesting
facts and figures about the memorabilia being sold.

These catalogues are available to all Executive Club members at a
special 20% discount price of £12 plus postage and packaging (£2 in the UK).

To purchase your catalogue with the special discount, contact Bonhams
on 0207 468 8265 or visit http://www.bonhams.com/concorde and quote your
Executive Club Membership number.

For further information on the retirement of Concorde visit
http://www.ba.com/concorde.
Or visit www.bonhams.com/concorde for more details on the auction.

Thank you for supporting British Airways

Your Sincerely

Sharon Callaghan
Manager, Executive Club UK

Note
British Airways will donate the first £500,000 of profits from this
auction to Get Kids Going! (charity registration number 1063471). Any
additional profits will be distributed to charitable causes nominated by
British Airways.

Profit will be the total sale price of all lots and British Airways'
share of catalogue sale proceeds less costs relating to catalogue
production and sale, cost of organising the auction and Bonhams' commission.

From the Bonhams page

A case of wine as served on board Concorde, comprising four bottles of 1988 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, four bottles of 1998 Chassagn-Montrachet 1 er Cru Domaine Vincent Girardin, and four bottles of 1994 Chateau Pape-Clement 1994 Grand Cru Classé, Pessac-Léognan, is expected to fetch £120-180, while 12-place settings of crystalline glasses, used on Concorde from February 2001, complete a covetable dinner table display. (£150-250).

Among souvenirs with more moderate estimates, are a Wedgwood “Atlas” Ashtray (£75-100); a Smythson Stationery Set (£60-90), stylish leather goods with estimates from £150-220; and a fine Merino Lambswool Blanket (£40-60), each of which will ensure the sale remains accessible to all Concorde aficionados.

Collectors who failed to secure a seat on a flight will be able to bid on a pair of dark blue leather passenger seats (£600-1,000); the Captain’s seat (£600-1,000); a Driessen double cabin trolley, carrying the immortal words “BRITISH AIRWAYS CONCORDE” (£700-900); and a commemorative 1:100 scale model of Concorde, signed by members of the Concorde Flight Crew (£400-600).

That champagne is bargain!

I am in London on Saturday 29th anyhow so may go and view the lots. I am very interested in those passenger seats

Out of interest does anyone know where these items are being taken from? Are they spares?

PS. Shame there isnt an online catalogue

FBG I'll see you there!

I'm pretty sure most of these items are spares or part of the inventory, so much/most/many won't have ever been near an operational aircraft.

Boy, would I love to have one of those new cabin seats converted to my office chair!

Might get up there myself but there's a mach meter at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...0&category=419

which is priced at 710 GBP at the moment, Bonhams estimate 3 - 5K , just a thought the ebay item possibly isn't a mach meter but the actual display unit.

It'd be great to fit into a car see if you can get to Mach 0.3

LondonElite, I am in London with my girlfriend who is flying over from the US that week. We're in town from Thursday morning. Maybe I should start a thread in FT Community.

Apparently the seat manufacturers made enough for 8 aircraft and bearing in mind
G-BOAA and G-BOAB never got refitted there are few surplus out there. Shame as I'd like one with some supersonic history

I am actually in the market for a seat for my room at uni, this one sucks

Its actually my 20th on December 4th so I may be looking for a possible birthday present

Yes Me! I'm at Uni at the moment (so don't know if my brochure has come yet) but I'm going with my girlfriend to the viewing on the Saturday. Just we are hopefully going to Turnmills on the Friday night so we might be there a bit late!!

Did anyone here get invited to the advance viewing of the items? Regular concorde travellers and high gold members got invited. Champagne flowing and all that, looked quite fun!

Actually, the photograpy is very good, the grammer and spelling, however, leads me to belive that whoever proofread it had a bit too much Taittinger C de C to drink.
