I'd prefer reserved seats as well. In October, the place was pretty full and seating in the general area was rather sparse.

Sunday at the races is fine with me. As is the reserved seating. I'll need 2 tickets.

We'll certainly contribute to the dinner cost. And speaking of beer, (weren't we) I figure our beer gurus will be bringing a fine selection to dinner?!? I'd happily pitch in for that as well.

I'm not going to be able to make this one after all. :-(

Have some extra bourbon for me!

The KY Bourbon Trail was just named one of the world's Top Ten Spring trips by National Geographic; only 3 in the US:

And I just discovered this KY tour of smaller, craft distilleries:

Exclamation

A sudden change in schedule now has us coming in on Friday not to SDF at about 4PM but to CVG at about 3. We are still heading back to Louisville after the races on Sunday and we have room for riders both ways.

excellent, have you down for 2 reserved seat tix.

I'm guessing you can count on some nice beers on the Sat night dinner at house of toomanybooks.

I also have to bow out of this DO since my +1 just told me it's her vacation week. She rarely gets any time off so we're going to travel somewhere close on the West Coast (maybe Hawaii or Cabo).

Enjoy the Bourbon and Horsies everyone!

I may need a ride Finding nothing in a decent price range or a saver UA flight to LEX. I can get in through CVG and but I am having no luck getting out through SDF. Is anyone heading back out through CVG on Sun?

Alternatively, how necessary is a car for this DO? I could always rent one in CVG

You might have some luck trying WN which has an 8PM push out of SDF which almost certainly will get you into BWI (if that is any good for you).

If you do come in to CVG and need a ride, we are on DL44 scheduled arrival 309PM.

$5 a head ought to cover it (right Willie?); what do you say, all?
Absolutely! $5 is a great value for this.

yes our carload could drop you at CVG after the races (we prob won't stay for all the races as last one goes off at 6pm, I think)

Cars are needed, some of the itin makes public transportation not an option (especially the bourbon tours).

Right now I'm renting a suburban and have a full car (myself, Flying Machine, dobolina, ORD-TGU, KMA26, arollins).

Makersmark is renting a car & will be with toomanybooks

So those of you that need a car ride when in LEX, please let thread know so we can get rides squared away, and of course, those getting a ride should help with costs for those who are renting.

got some feedback/suggestions from a Lexington local:

For drinks on Friday I would actually recommend either beerworks or country boy brew as the beer selection is better and better priced and they'll have food trucks at those places if that suits your fancy. Country boy, west sixth, and (coming soon) blue stallion are the local breweries that have popped up in the last year.

On Saturday I highly recommend Woodford Reserve distillary unless everyones already been there. Also, Holly Hill inn has a brunch/lunch that is 3 courses for about $18 and the chef there is Ouita michel, james beard nominee -- excellent food, reservations required.
I'd like feedback from the other local beer drinkers as to the Friday night suggestions above.

Also, if we can get reservations, the Woodford Reserve lunch might be a very nice idea for Saturday.

This is what we all need to wear: Bourbon cologne.
