However I think with DL, part of the love is the 1-1 seating. KE is 2-2 upper deck.

Tho it's not a true 2-2 because it's staggered with direct aisle access from every seat. Still not as nice as DL, but way ahead of UA or most other 2-2 seat arrangements. It's also the same seat they use in F

DL296 NRT-ATL on 16 May will be on a 747. I assume this is part of ending the HNL-NRT/KIX routes. Maybe somebody can add it to the wiki. Haven't been able to figure out where it's going after ATL.

I've looked at all the logical flights out of ATL that a 747 may be on including ferry flights back for the four days after May 16 including to DTW and MSP as well as NRT, HNL, ICN and even JNB with no luck. Not sure where is is going after that. Anyone find anything yet?

I spent a few minutes last night playing around with "/ aircraft t:747" in ITA Matrix and couldn't find anything either.

I've flown KE 747s upper deck, and the staggered seats are nice, with powered dividers you can raise or lower depending on how social you feel. I do like DL seating better, but enjoy KE service more.

I recently flew DTW-PVG and back. Had the marvelous luck of being upper deck both ways.

I haven't seen many reviews of 72k and 73k so I figured I'd post one for the limited use it'll serve, before they end use of the plane this fall.

73k is the 'typical' seat in the cabin. No extra room, nothing special about it. That said, its amazing. I didn't find it too close to the lavatory, not too noisy, etc. If you want to sit in the upper deck, this is a fine seat.

72k - a great seat. You get a big space you can store your bedding during takeoff. There's only 14 or so seats in the upper deck, so lavatory usage isn't bad. With decent headphones and and eye mask, you won't notice anything.

As an aside, I'm a total plane geek. I asked the FA when boarding if I could get a picture of the cockpit. The pilot sat me in his seat, let me take pictures, went through a bit of the starting procedure with me. Really made me feel like a kid again... Such a special occasion.

^ yep; ain't nothin' like the Queen of the Skies ... all the flight crews I've interacted with as a revenue passenger since 1977 (Boeing Commercial Flight Test employee 1979-1982, other Boeing 1983-1999) generally feel the same

Seems sometime late October, maybe Oct 31st, the DTW-NRT-DTW will convert to 777. Doesn't have a designation of which version. Where as ATL-NRT-ATL lists a 777-200LR. Might be they actually are looking to park them at the end of 2017.

If so will find some flight and hopefully get upstairs. Something I've never done.

DTW-NRT and DTW-PVG both swap from a 747 to 777 on October 28th. DTW-ICN is currently scheduled as a 747 through Dec 15th with the final scheduled 747 flight being ICN-DTW on Dec 17th. However, a 777 can also be found on DTW-ICN on certain dates prior to Dec 15th. There's some speculation that the 777 scheduled for these flights is actually just a placeholder for the A350 and one should expect those to start showing up once delivery dates are finalized.

I don't think there's any "might be" about it. DL plans to park the 747s this year. That's been known for a long time now.

I know. I meant it more that they have said they were going away before and didn't. With the a350 coming for sure I think it's more certain this time.

Interesting. Maybe I'll get lucky and be placed on an a350 if they arrive

Was just looking and noticed DL158 on Dec 17th is now listed as 777.

Edit - Nevermind. For some reason it was forcing a greater then 24hr connection and DL158 was showing as Dec 18th for my search instead of Dec 17th. My inbound would get in plenty early to meet MCT so not sure what Delta.com was doing giving me a connection over 24 hrs later.

Anyone else trying to get on it/have already booked it?

I always hated that that window film at DTW got in the way of my 744 photos. Great job making it work for you!

Just saw this article about some of the 350s possibly being delayed. Perhaps DL will keep a couple 74s around for just a bit longer as a result?
