Yes. You can convert between credit products however not as easy as swapping one delta card to another.

"Swapping cards" amounts to moving your allowed Amex credit limit from the old card to the new card. If you don't care about this, you can just open a new Delta Skymiles Amex card and cancel the old Amex card at your leisure.
Amex dollar spend credit for the MQD exemption have to come from a Delta Amex card.
