Sitting on a plane in DTW with an original ETD of 1:45pm delayed to 2:15pm. Just posted a second delay to 2:45pm. Have another flight out of ATL later this evening (allegedly). Fun time ahead I believe.

Most flights I am seeing from other airports have an ETD of 15:30, this will probably change.

Anyway, obviously this isn't Delta's fault but is there a way/possible chance to get compensation from ATL/the airport authority? I always here of airlines shelling out compensation but never airports, and while I've never had any issue with any airline that required more than getting me to my destination many airports/their operations have left a lot to be desired.

That could take a while to fix. Good thing they got the completion award last month, cause DL can't seem to catch a break this month. Biggest snowfall in 25 years ATL, another snowstorm in the midwest/northeast that caused significant disruption, and now a fire in an electrical room.

There is an old saying in the electric power industry; If your power supply is 99% reliable, then youre in the dark for three days each year.

Which is why first world power tends to be seven sigma or greater.

Our Captain announced to the concourse here in DTW that a construction crew in ATL severed electrical lines. No idea what is the actual cause as both a fire and this explanation are plausible.

Also hearing reports that people are stuck on escalators (you heard that right) because TSA is telling them not to move. Isn't that both illegal and inhumane?

Isnt this kind of like a security guard telling you not to cut across the grass? If you walked on the escalators what is the TSA really going to do????
