Current 2021 First Class meal service status -- Current FC meal service consists of cold meal boxes with the exception of JFK-SEA and BOS-SEA/SFO FC marketed flights which receive hot meal service. This includes both domestic and international DL FC marketed flights. Otherwise, only D1 marketed flights receive hot meals. All flights over 900 miles which depart before 9PM receive meal service in FC. In addition, flights over 2300 miles will receive meal service in FC for departures after 9PM.

There have been no official announcements from DL concerning when hot meals will return to FC, however, it is rumored it will return Q1 2022.

Just flew JAX-ATL-SAN and back yesterday to jack up my stuff for PM and cleared First on ATL-SAN and while I got marketed or bistroed the FAs up front were actually very attentive coming by with a water tray and asking people if they wanted refills every 30 minutes, came around with the snack basket a couple times after the main service too.

Thank you for the magic service date. I saw a price drop for JFK-LAS and was about to switch from JetBlue Mint to Delta One … but the snack box is a big negative for me.

Same menu as my upcoming ATL-GRU, and my past ATL-ATH (except the sea bass wasn't an option when I flew)

Service was excellent service on this flight too.
I guess that's... technically not a snack box. What's the verdict? Worth eating instead of self-catering, and when on earth do we get a real meal again?

It's outlined on the link I provided under U.S. Domestic Flights. And yes, STL-ATL is just under 500 miles. My point was the FA's really just wanted to offer water and coffee and it was a passenger who had to specifically request a beer. I'll also add, they did not offer soft drinks.

FLIGHTS 251-499 MILES:
  • All passengers on flights over 251+ miles will be able to enjoy our snack selection (sweet/savory).
  • Coffee, tea, and 8oz bottled water will be available in all cabins.
  • Delta Comfort+ and First Class customers will receive complimentary beer and wine service.
  • Other beverages, including Coca-Cola mini cans, juices, and mixers will be available for First Class customers.

There's a thread from 2017 that shows a memo about C+ getting only water/coffee/beer/wine on flights between 251 - 350 miles, and full beverage service on flights over 350 miles (claiming FA's were having trouble finishing service on the shorter flights). It sounds like that's still the case and the webpage for C+ service is misleading in not showing the 251 - 350 mile C+ service offerings.

I wouldn't count on a cutoff from pre CV19 to have any meaning currently. However given how frequently DL doesn't include all details in postings, it's very possiblpoint still is a thing.

New boxed meals were present on SLC-HNL yesterday 8/4 as well. Choices were the usual lunch selections of Italian ham sandwich, tomato mozzarella sandwich, or strawberry chicken salad. I had the ham and thought it was actually quite good. One of the better cold sandwiches I’ve had on DL over the years. Amusingly, it was also served with a Coke Light.

Pathetic for a 7 hour flight in “FC”. UA is offering Y pax essentially the same type of meal on their similar length DEN-HNL flight.

Agreed. DL keeps changing things and I was going by what they currently show on their website.
Regardless, the segment I was on was nearly 500 miles. (It was listed as 465) This crew was NYC based and they were just going through the motions.

Does anyone find annoying the message written on the inside of these tragically dismal boxes "We've added layers of protection"? What is should say is "We've inexcusably cheapened our product and gone low rent on food (now worst in the aviation world) and service and, by the way, don't try and call us on the phone".
