e-Credits bug incorrectly reducing MQD earning (Consolidated)

I purchased a ticket in August for $350, canceled and received an ecredit. I then used that ecredit last week to purchase a similar ticket (same destination, round trip) but this time for $700, paying the difference. The ticket has now been flown and my account was credited based on the original $350 ticket. Chatting with Delta's iMessage help line, I am told that MQDs are always credited based on the original ecredited ticket rather than the flight flown, which did not seem right to me.

To drive that point home, I asked if I had booked a $100 ticket, canceled and then booked a $10k D1 ticket using my $100 ecredit, would I receive MQDs based only on the original $100 and was told that would be the case.

Anyone heard of such a think or encounter similar? Thanks!

Chat function is garbage… most of the times… tbh

Try call and then ask a Skymiles specialist to look into this.

THIS ^^^^^

You get MQD based on the fare portion of total cost the ticket purchased for the flight. Using the ecredit is no different than using multiple credit cards.

I did that, and via email, they said they would update but I have been waiting for more than six months plus already.

I have been booking away from Delta due to the inability to provide me with the correct crediting. Would have booked at least $10K in airfares this year with Delta. Oh well...

MQD/RDM posting calculation errors (DL booked, DL metal)

So, just returned from a trip and was shorted on MQD and RDM. I submitted the “contact us” form, but it says responses are more than 30 days… is there a faster way to get them to re-math this?

Details = round trip on DL metal, booked and marketed by DL from SAT-ATL for a DM on 12/8-12/9 with a base fare of $945.12 (all in = $1045.2) that only accrued 889 MQD / 9779 RDM. Original payment was Amex, ticket was changed with additional collect also paid via Amex. The difference in MQD matters in this case.

Call the diamond line, you'll get the option to text. I did that and issue resolved instantly via SMS.

Did the MQM post correctly?

With MQM rollover I’m sure DL has no problem awarding proper credit there since so many DM’s are sitting on hundreds of thousands of them. So the fact DL can’t (or is sneakily choosing to not) award the correct MQD’s for their own flights leads me to believe they’re aware of this and just hoping as many Medallions as possible don’t catch it.

Give they just raised the MQD requirement for DM to $20k for next year it wouldn’t surprise me they’re trying to get a head start and sneakily try tactics like this to hold back as many as they can this year.

I get how cynical I may sound but it’s just baffling to me how DL can’t get its own processes to work correctly. Would you ever expect to board a DL flight and then have to tell the pilot how to fly the plane? No! So why does OP need to tell DL how to award proper MQD earnings based on metrics DL set?!

I understand commercially DL leads the pack, but it’s coming at the expense of their most loyal customers. Why can’t they be the DL of 2013-2019 that still led the US3 commercially *and* operationally but were a much more customer-friendly and customer-centric airline.
Every. Single. Change - from the SkyClub, to SkyMiles to GUC’s to earning status have been at the expense of the customer. I understand DL is a for profit company, but they demonstrated for many years they could drive record profits while being a customer-first airline. One day DL’s gonna have a rude awakening when they realize that pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered, just like Disney is right now, and I hope it’s soon.

Did this, they said it would be queued for review. Still waiting, will update.

Not disagreeing with your post, but my guess is this is more about the flight change, as the MQD / RDM posted is accurate based on the original ticket but doesn’t include the additional collect that raised the base fare... And yes, it should do that without additional intervention, but I never attribute intent where incompetence sufficiently explains something…

Have noticed this as well. Normally I don't track MQDs very closely....that's a job for the accounting people! But as the year draws to a close, I looked at where I was at and what trips I had left to do, and, booked them more strategically than I otherwise would have, specifically to do with the cost of the fare. Flew and see rather large discrepancies. Like the OP it seems to have affected flights that got changed into more expensive fares, to my MQD detriment.

But it begs the question of how many other fares have been affected. I change flights all the time. I'm likely going to have to audit the whole year's flights against fare paid to see if there's other MQD missing. Just what I wanted to do...not.

So are you saying that the $56 MQD difference is going to be what makes you a DM again, as you must be a PM currently, otherwise why would you even care, as MQDs rollover to $0 on Jan 1 2023? So your MQDs year-to-date must be $14,945 + then?

There've been a lot of various posts about this with MQDs not crediting properly. Obviously there is a systemic issue somewhere in the DL system. Fortunately for me I haven't been hit by it yet... but with the significant increase in thresholds needed for next year it means I'll have to be watching my flight activity postings very closely.

Currently a DM/1MM, and this is requal. Rollover MQM is 3x needed for requal, but the MQD spend this month was strategically chosen / booked to _just_ cross the $15k.
With the remaining trips booked in 2022, and once things are corrected, I’ll requal with $15007 MQD as of 12/31/22. I shifted several project trips from end of 2022 to beginning of 2023 because I would already be over the line with MQD… (Just wasn’t anticipating having to unwind a posting error in real time.)

YMMV - but I did my audit. Fortunately for me only 40 segments to check and cross check against what was paid. Of this, I'm missing what I believe to be just under $2k in MQD that I should have been credited based on what I paid for, got ticketed as, and flew. (Taking into account only the base fare of course, no other fees/charges). That's >10% of the MQD needs for a DM which seems more than just an error. FWIW it wasn't only affecting tickets that got changed - some tickets just didn't post correctly at all. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. Equally, on tickets that got changed, and ended up with an ecredit, i.e. actual flown MQD earning was less than what was originally ticketed - and those ones got posted correctly, so it's strange that some of the tickets that later got changed to more expensive fares, remained posting at the originally ticketed value. Note - the 'I paid x for the ticket, then changed to a more expensive y option and only got MQD credit based on x' didn't happen on all of my changed tickets - just on some. Again no rhyme nor reason. Just emailed them to fix it. Don't much mind if it takes them till the new year, I'm sure they'll retrospectively apply if my numbers are right.

Next thing, separate issue - why don't they accrue ALL spend with Delta against MQD requirement? I pay for SkyClub access, this is dollars to Delta. I pay excess bag charges sometimes. I pay WiFi fees. All told, this amounts to about $2k a year in extra spend. Seems silly they don't factor this in overall business value of the passenger. Maybe too tricky to track it all?

Happy I did the $250K Amex spend this year. Delta’s IT systems are so archaic.
