While you were watching Cantinflas y Sus Amigos and maybe learning something, we in the States were watching such nonsense as the Howdy Doody Show.

Cantinflas Show was awesome, that is where I started to learn about Greek mythology, literature, art, architecture and many more subjects.

And I was just 6 years old

Canarsie, did you see anything on your local news about this? Can you explain how this exit lane ended so abruptly if this is indeed what happened? Thanks.

Yes.

Before the High Occupancy Vehicle lanes were designated, there were two exits to Northside Drive off Interstate 75 south, and anyone could use either one of them. I never knew why the one exit in the middle of Interstate 75 existed, but now I know it was a proprietary exit for the then-proposed High Occupancy Vehicle lanes.

It is difficult for me to explain the design of this exit. You can get a better idea from watching this news video. Pay close attention to when they show the computer re-enactment, as well as when they show footage of the exit ramp itself.

My theory is that the bus driver, who was driving during the middle of the night, probably thought he was in the High Occupancy Vehicle lane where Interstate 75 merges with Interstate 85 a few miles further south, as it appears similar in design to the High Occupancy Vehicle exit ramp at Northside Drive. At this point, the High Occupancy Vehicle lane departs to the left from Interstate 75 and goes off on its own for a half-mile before merging again with Interstates 75 and 85, also known at that point as the Brookwood Connector. Both look similar, especially at night.

The other problem is that — despite two Stop Ahead signs and two Stop signs — the exit and information signs are black-and-white and smaller than the typically larger green-and-white signs. However, the design of these signs are similar to signage for High Occupancy Vehicle lanes on other highways around the United States.

What puzzles me is why there is no return access ramps on the other side of the overpass. That would have prevented the tragedy from happening.

If I need to explain this any further, please let me know.

I saw that computer reenactment the other day. Incredible. But Canarsie, you seem to be questioning the design when GDOT says it's just fine.
