So, Lehava... is it Spring-like wherever you are, today?
CAUSE THE SUN FINALLY CAME OUT HERE!!!!
It's not officially Spring for another 90 minutes, but I can't wait any longer. I'm declaring it Spring-time in The Lounge™! Daffodils and irises on every table!
And also,
Springtime Martini
1.5 to 2 oz Żubrówka vodka (flavoured with bison grass!)
1/2 to 3/4 oz Lillet blanc
Miniature pickled asparagus spear
Combine liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with asparagus spear.

We called it "Hunch Punch"... and yes, we would sometimes use Grain Alcohol, but when we wanted to be conscious before noon the next day, we used Vodka... lots and lots of Vodka.

Things I learned in college.....
1) it is better to steal a syringe from the health care center and INJECT the fruit with the vodka than to just soak it
2) the drawers in the dorm room dressers are plastic, they work REALLY well for mixing "punch" in and then closing the drawer to hide its contents from the RA

I also learned that a half keg is about the same size as a conga and fits nicely into a conga bag. Security was none the wiser.

YAY!!!!!!
I like it.
As an alternative to Lillet, have you ever tried Fernet Stock? It's a Czechoslovak staple and used not only as an intoxicant but as medicine and several other things. Just recently have I been able to buy it in the US, and only through select dealers. It's very herbal. It takes a strong palate to handle it.
Interestingly, I was just browsing the website and they advertise making Long Stock Drinkx. I never really though of Fernet as a mixer, but I guess it could work. As a campaign to promote this, Fernet is sponsoring LSD Parties!!! I don't think they quite understand how that will never work outside of Czech or Slovakia.

Hehe. I like it. When I did feel like dedicating the time to infusing a fruit with alcohol, my absolute favorite (and still is) is a spiked watermelon. Of course it's been some time since I did that and they didn't have fancy pre-infused vodkas back then. I may need to try that again!

YES!!!!! It'll be just like the old days in college - partying in the dorm.
Some of our more aged attendees will have to dig a little deeper to recall those memories. Maybe they can teach us to dance the Charleston.
Seriously - Thursday when I arrive I'll find some fruit, some booze and get to spiking! Friday, we drink.
Come to think of it, Friday should be no different in that regard than any other night there.

I wonder if spiked fruit would clear TSA... it's not a gel... the liquid is already absorbed into the fruit.... Has anyone tried it?

I'm still trying to figure out if there is some way to route STL-CVG-DAB and at least make the Sunday brunch. So far, it's not looking good.
