Please don't go Canarsie on me. One of Canarsie is a riot. Two is too much!
At work yesterday they emailed out a new dress code effective 1 June with special provisions for those in Cubicle Country: No jeans except on "casual Friday" (casual Friday? Someone is in a time warp. "Casual Friday" is so passι.); four specific materials are recommended for pants. No athletic shoes. Pressed shirts or sweaters.
The "pressed shirts" part really shows that behind this all is a pampered exec who either sends his laundry out or has a little woman at home to do it for him.
I ride my bike to work (20 miles each way) whenever I can, and for a couple family reasons I can't abandon the benefits package at this point in my life, so in a couple weeks I guess I will be the best dresser biker on the trail.
I fear this will also cause some hiring and retention issues, especially with the younger engineers, and this is a company that goes to extremes when its high profit margins are threatened.

Possibly on Friday's as long as it's opaque, reveals no cleavage, and extends down as least as far as Capri pants. She most also wear shoes that completely enclose her feet.
However, if Delta Dawn also happens to be DL Dawn, she can't wear her new uniform since the blouses are ever so slightly transparent.
I wonder if I could wear Capri pants on Fridays?

Maybe the execs behind this have a foot-fetish phobia?
We are primarily a manufacturing facility and for the most part (esp. as they apply to the mfg. floor) are common sense safety and decency requirements. It's the added requirements for Cubicle Land that annoy me, although I will be a faithful Borg and comply.
I once worked for a company (ETA Systems) that went in 2-3 months from having a very-talented & highly-motivated software engineering staff (~ 60 total) to having > 2/3 of them circulating their resumes. The turnover was their doom; they were shut down by the parent company a couple years later. Applying petty requirements to engineers (esp. the software variety) is risky business.

I notice that half the people signing up for the Delta Forum Lounge™ Do who have never posted in the Lounge™. Shouldn't there be a minimum post count requirement? You can't visit OMNI until you've posted a certain number of times, you shouldn't be allowed to the Lounge™ Do unless you've posted at least, say, six times in the Lounge™.
