That's why we like you! You fit right in around here.
Mikey - sorry you & MrsM won't make the Gargoyle Do. I'm sure you enjoy sleeping late every morning, loafing all day and generally emulating Cholula's lifestyle. However, when unemployment interferes with Do attendance, it's time to send MrsM out into the workforce.

May 1 - May 14, the following will be happening.
1. My house will be painted (cost: $1300).
2. I will be in Italy and Switzerland, going out to dinner with the UIG almost every night. (She does not agree to go to fast food places, but will lower herself to go to a good pizzeria once or twice during that time.)
3. My daughter will be working on a cruise ship. She will have an Amex for purchases on the ship and outside of the Euro zone. She will have a German MasterCard for shopping in the Euro zone. (She will be going back and forth between Israel and various European ports. This will be for about 8 months, but for the purposes of this post, we are only discussing those two weeks.)
Both of her credit cards are being paid out of my bank accounts.
Okay, here is the question: Which will cost me more, 1, 2, or 3?

Well, I'd hate to hazard a guess....but I think you really will need someone (Cholula) to pay for your trips now!!

Since the subject has wandered over to the habillement of M. Cholula, I can vouch that, sitting here in our room looking at the Eiffel Tower, he is wearing actual regualr clothes, sweatshirt, long pants, and the usual tassel loafers.
Mrs. C however is wearing a lime green sweatshirt and the inquiry has been made as to whether it was composed of Cholula's old lime green speedos. Mrs. C denied and we accepted as we opened a third bottle of Pierre Paillard's finest. ^

Door # 2 for sure but #3 will most likely run a close 2nd. I do hope they both are mileage earning cards. BTW...are you painting your house ?

I am allergic to lime green
You know what? I never thought of mikey's work situation in that light, scoow. I think you're right!! He wants to be like Cholula!! Watching dog's pee on fire hydrants and the like. In fact----I think I may have a photo of him wearing a shirt very much like a Hawaiin shirt. Do you think he's hiding a lime green jock strap to boot???
Q: Did you hear about the Auburn athlete that won a Gold Medal at the Olympic game?
A: He was so proud of it that he had it bronzed!

Israel, at least, makes a theoretical attempt at giving points on credit cards. In other words, once you have spent about $400,000 you will have enough points for a free night at a Defrocked Ramada.
Germany doesn't do that. It not only charges for the credit cards but there are no real benefits from them. (Okay, it does give me free travel insurance on my Gold MC, but not on the $25 per year card a got for my daughter.)
But Deutsche Bank cut me a real break. Now, instead of paying for my Gold MC, they are giving it to me absolutely free -- in exchange for my paying 120Euros a year for the right to have a checking account.

Also, also with an expenditure largely reimbursed by privilege and free miles, achieving elite status of SEN is a chip shot. A brief check of the M&M board can be a real education for an occasional traveler who pays any attention at all and can take advantage of the situation.

It puzzles me that anybody with an address in Germany can at all complain about this sort of stuff. With that address, it is of nominal cost to pile up an enormous amount of LH miles by purchasing magazine subscriptions and those sorts of things.

Yes, but if you don't have an address in Germany (and I don't) you can't get the LH card.
Edited to add: The LH card is not issued by Deutsche Bank -- none of its cards give any point/miles/kilometers or anything else for spending.

I have the German credit card because having a European bank account, in addition to an American one, has proven helpful to me in several different ways. If I were to open one today, it would probably be with an Italian bank, but when I did open it I spent a lot of time in Germany and it was the most convenient country.
