And a very very VERY big HELLO back to you, OTNB!!!

We have some special appies for you today - only the very best and tastiest low-chol low-cal and low-fat and YES they still taste fabulous. They are a secret recipe but available to anyone who hangs here in The Lounge™.

Also, we have such an amazing selection of red wines that you will not even mind being limited to one glass per night, as you will look forward to the next evening's offerings.

Darn, I do have a habit of serving in a rather generous glass, though!

So happy that you and Mrs. OTNB could drop by and give us an update!

I actually have the DL Plat Amex (I know, hard to believe)... I already spent 25K on it this year since I got 10k MQMs on my last statement. Do I get another 10k MQMs this year? I need them since I'm not travelling as much so far this year.

This statement got me back here Mr. Big 100% Lamo. But I want the teaching job that has me travelling internationally every weekend too. How do I find it?

I am saddened by news that Canada's Hottest Bartender has to use Tabasco Sauce. Why no Cholula, I have been asking? But in vain, I fear, for no Cholula.for.hot.Canuck.bartenders contest seems to be in the works. And with a trip to Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, no less, it's a fun gig!!!

Maybe we could get David Cook into this one, forget the border temporarily and let him leave that annoying AI formula for long enough to remember that ... DamnItAll... being a Barrrtender is NOT A BAD THING!!!!

(OMG, how did I ever get caught up in that cheesefest of a show???!!!! And what do I need for withdrawal????)

Whew, now that I have that one off my chest, so to speak, because I am still balancing a glass of something while I type, and hey, it's not easy eDDRCMAWE.RE,RFAEW FAPORTIAdsC .........

.... OK, now that I've taken care of that mini-crisis, this one is just for you, Traveller!

Tales of the Cocktail has posted their official non-alcoholic drink for 2008!

(OK, I guess we'll make one up for Canarsie too, just for a break from all that book/management/coaching stuff.)

(Mmmmmm, it has jalapenos, prickly pear and mango -- ALL IN THE SAME GLASS -- I don't think I'll even miss the booze!!!! )

NOLitA Heat

Official Alcohol Free Drink of the 2008 Tales of the Cocktail

The official non-alcoholic cocktail of Tales of the Cocktail 2008 was created by Natalie Bovis-Nelsen of The Liquid Muse Virgin Mixology®

1/2 ounce limejuice
1/3 ounce Prickly Pear syrup (available in bar stores and online)
2 ounces mango juice
Fre alcohol-removed Brut sparkling wine
1 skewered whole jalapeño or Thai chili
1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Rim chilled champagne flute with sugar, set aside. Muddle jalapeno slices, limejuice and a pinch of sugar in a mixing glass. Add ice and mango juice, shake vigorously, and strain into the champagne flute. Slowly pour in Prickly Pear syrup, allowing it to settle on the bottom of the glass. Thanks all for the welcome back!!!! I just went to my last cardio rehab and they are graduating me. Now the MRS says she has made arrangements for me to continue with her trainer! I was thinking I get enough exercise in the airports.

That is what happens when you spend 3 wks in the hospital and then get fed "sawdust for 3 months. She even goes into Delta and changes my meals to diabetic!!!
Made my first flight since Jan in late March. The day before I got a delivery of flowers from Delta. Stock has been down since my illness and since I invested so is my net worth ! All is well though, I am back in the air. Headed to SAC tomorrow and then taking the family to Cancun the end of the week. I have slowed down. No working weekends!

Carol I did miss Dega....couldn't climb the stairs, but made Dallas as it is easier. That was actually my flight. The Mrs has limited me to one trip a week . She has gotten pretty bossy, not that she already wasn't !

The Doc said red wine is good....one a day...and also read my mind b/c he said that doesn't mean save up and have 7 in one day.
No Bombay Sapphire or Maker's in a while.....guess their stock is down too.

Anyway hello to all in the lounge!
Hey OTNB, welcome to the zipper club. Glad you are doing well

The first part is wa-a-a-a-a-ay too much information, mikey1003.

It is great to hear that you have a clean bill of health despite you recklessly spreading crabs all over the place.

Today is Victoria Day in Canada and a local company is debuting its newest spirit - Victoria Gin! It has a photo of a young Queen Victoria on the label and will be the Fairmont Empress's premium gin offering.

VICTORIA GIN

[...] the Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria, who have just come up with their own in-house gin.

A project to help celebrate the grand old lady’s 100th birthday, Victoria Gin is more than just a custom label slapped on a bottle of premium spirits. The handcrafted gin was distilled by local winemaker Ken Winchester of Winchester Cellars, who used the winery’s wood-fired, copper pot still to blend ten locally grown, organic botanicals, from juniper berries to rose petals (plus one secret ingredient known only to the distillery).

The gin will be sold exclusively by a handful of venues, including the Empress, and already the mixologists in the Bengal Lounge are adding it to some of their specialty cocktails for summer -- not the least of them being the “Queen’s Jubilee” which was created in honour of her Majesty’s visit to the hotel in 2002.

Packaged in heavy French flint bottles, where the traditional shape is intended to recall gin’s reputation as a medicinal cure-all, the gin will also be available for purchase at Straith Spirit Merchants and the tasting room at Winchester Cellars.

From all tasting reports we have heard, it’s well worth the price tag of $49 Cdn.
Martinis, anyone?

Cholula, I see you heading over to the bar! Twist of lemon in yours, I believe?

Happy Victoria Day, Abby!

And, yes, I'll take a double. Just flew in from Chicago and am in need of some TLC. Not sure what was worse....the packed flights on WN or the 105 degrees when I stepped off the plane in ONT.

Delta sky miles transfering promotions

In the past 3-4 weeks Delta offered double miles transfering promotions( now I kick myself for not taking the plunge)

Presently their promotion is waiving the transfer fee.

Does anyone know how soon will be the next promotion and any inkling what it would be based on past history?

thanks

Last 3 years, I've never seen Delta offer double bonus on mile transfers. Waiving the transfer fee happens about twice a year.

I think Abby's drink would have me sitting on the toilet wishing I had had one of these:

The Unhealthiest Drink in America

Baskin Robbin’s Large Heath Bar Shake (32 oz)
2,310 calories
266 g sugar
108 g fat (64 g saturated)

Let's look at America's Worst Drink in numbers:

73: The number of ingredients that go into this milkshake.
66: The number of teaspoons of sugar this drink contains.
11: The number of Heath Bars you would have to eat to equal the number of calories found in one Baskin Robbins Large Heath Bar Shake.
8-12: The average number of minutes it takes to consume this drink.
240: The number of minutes you’d need to spend on a treadmill burning it off, running at a moderate pace.
